Ocean of Jobs is an open-source job board. Browsing, searching, and filtering listings does not require an account. The only personal data collected is what you voluntarily provide when setting up job alerts.
Creating an alert requires you to log in (via Google, GitHub, or a one-time email code) and saves your alert's filter criteria under your account. That data is used for exactly one purpose: checking new postings against your saved filter and emailing you a summary when matching listings appear. We do not sell or share your data.
Running the alerts feature requires a few AWS services to process data on our behalf: Amazon Cognito (authentication), DynamoDB (storing alert rules), and Amazon SES (sending email alerts). If you log in with Google or GitHub, your chosen provider handles the standard OAuth handshake.
Starred jobs and theme choices (light/dark mode) are stored strictly in your browser's local storage. They are never sent to our servers.
This site does not set cookies and does not use analytics or advertising scripts. Like almost all web infrastructure, our hosting providers (AWS API Gateway and CloudFront) temporarily log HTTP request details, including IP addresses and timestamps, strictly for operational health, security, and DDoS protection.
An alert's data is kept for as long as it remains active. You can delete an alert from within the site at any time, which immediately removes the entry from our database. You retain the right to request full export or deletion of your data at any time.
Job postings on this board are scraped from companies' public career pages and public ATS APIs. This is public corporate information, not personal user data.
If any changes are made to this policy, this page will be updated to reflect them.
