Marketing Department
The marketing team is responsible for Vantage’s brand, identity and positioning in the global marketplace. The department also leads public and analyst relations to ensure constituents are educated on Vantage’s products, services and markets. The team partners with sales, new site development, construction, finance, people and culture, public policy, internal communications, sustainability and other departments to grow market share, acquire and retain customers, expand into new geographies, understand customer sentiment and promote the company as an employer of choice.
Position Overview
This role can be based in our Sterling, VA or Denver, CO, or other Vantage locations, in alignment with our flexible work policy (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).
Reporting to Vantage’s Global Marketing Lead, and working closely with the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer, the Senior Director, Social Media & Content Strategy will lead Vantage's global social media and digital content function, developing and executing an audience-first strategy that strengthens the company's reputation, builds stakeholder trust, and increases understanding of the critical role digital infrastructure plays in modern society. This role is responsible for transforming Vantage's digital presence through strategic storytelling, compelling multimedia content, and platform-specific audience engagement. The Senior Director will establish a clear purpose, audience, content strategy, and success metrics for every social and digital channel, ensuring each platform effectively supports Vantage's business, reputation, community engagement, and stakeholder relations objectives.
A primary focus of the role will be building and leading a scalable content engine capable of producing high-quality, engaging, and accessible content that resonates with a broad range of audiences, including:
- Local communities

The ideal candidate is a strategic and creative leader with deep expertise in content strategy, digital communications, social media, audience engagement, storytelling, editorial planning, and emerging digital platforms. This individual will work closely with Media Relations, Policy and Government Affairs, Sustainability, Human Resources, Sales, Regional Marketing, and executive leadership to elevate Vantage's voice and strengthen its reputation across global markets.
Essential Job Functions
##
Social Media Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and lead Vantage's global social media strategy, defining the purpose, audience, content framework, and success metrics for each platform.
- Identify key target audiences and establish platform-specific strategies for LinkedIn, X, YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, podcasts, and emerging digital channels.
- Create audience engagement programs designed to build trust and foster dialogue with communities, policymakers, industry stakeholders, employees, recruits, and customers.
- Drive audience growth, engagement, share of voice, and positive sentiment across digital channels.
- Establish governance, policies, content standards, and publishing best practices across the organization.
- Continuously evaluate platform effectiveness and identify opportunities for innovation and growth.
Stakeholder & Reputation Storytelling
- Develop content strategies that increase understanding of Vantage's role in enabling the digital economy and supporting modern society.
- Create storytelling programs that highlight economic development impact, job creation and workforce development, community investment, sustainability initiative, energy innovation, customer successes, and employee stories and culture
- Translate complex topics into engaging, easily understandable content for non-technical audiences.
- Partner with Policy, Sustainability, Development, and Operations teams to create educational content that addresses common questions and concerns about data centers and digital infrastructure.
Content Strategy & Editorial Leadership
- Develop and oversee a global content strategy aligned with business priorities, reputation objectives, emerging issues, and stakeholder needs.
- Build and manage a global editorial calendar aligned with community engagement efforts, reputation campaigns, major announcements, industry events, policy priorities, and executive thought leadership.
- Partner with regional teams to identify meaningful local stories and stakeholder engagement opportunities.
- Ensure content is audience-centric, visually engaging, accessible, and aligned to brand standards.
- Maintain consistency in messaging across all digital and social platforms.

Content Engine & Multimedia Development
- Build and lead a centralized content engine capable of supporting global and regional storytelling needs.
- Prioritize modern content formats including: short-form video, social-first video content, reels and TikTok content, infographics, motion graphics, podcasts, interactive digital content, and executive and colleague video messaging
- Develop systems that allow content to be efficiently repurposed across multiple channels and audiences.
- Create scalable processes for turning announcements, community events, sustainability initiatives, customer stories, media coverage, and insights into compelling digital content.
- Explore emerging platforms and content formats that help reach new audiences and strengthen stakeholder engagement.
- Leverage emerging AI, automation, and content technologies to increase efficiency while maintaining quality and authenticity.
- Manage a content budget that supports a network of agencies and external content creators, influencers and paid digital spend with a constant focus on ROI
Misinformation & Digital Reputation Management
- Develop digital content strategies that proactively address misinformation and disinformation impacting Vantage, local projects, and the broader data center industry.
- Monitor social channels and digital platforms for emerging issues, false narratives, and stakeholder concerns.
- Work closely with Global Media Relations, Public Policy, Government Affairs, Sustainability, and regional teams to develop fact-based educational content.
- Create proactive campaigns that improve understanding of data centers, community benefits, energy use, sustainability efforts, and economic impact.
- Build rapid-response content frameworks that help address misinformation before it gains momentum.
- Identify, vet, and engage credible third-party digital creators, subject matter experts, community voices, and industry influencers who connect with broader audiences in authentic and accessible ways.
- Develop and manage strategic influencer and creator partnerships to amplify fact-based content, increase stakeholder reach, and counter misinformation and disinformation through trusted voices across social, video, podcast, and emerging digital platforms.
Executive & Thought Leadership Communications
- Partner with the Executive Leadership Team to develop digital thought leadership programs and manage Linked In presence for select executive leaders.
- Create social and multimedia content that elevates Vantage leaders as trusted voices in digital infrastructure, AI, sustainability, economic development, and public policy.
