About Artificial

Help shape the future of specialty insurance

At Artificial, we’re building the next generation of technology for the specialty (re)insurance market. Our mission is to transform how brokers and carriers operate in complex markets by removing operational barriers and enabling smarter, faster decision-making.

We use modern technology to solve real challenges for some of the world’s leading brokers and insurers. By automating the repetitive and structuring the complex, we help our partners unlock new opportunities for innovation and growth.

You’ll be joining a collaborative team that values curiosity, ownership, and continuous learning. We work in an environment where ideas are heard, support is built-in, and outcomes matter. Everyone here has the chance to make a tangible impact on our products, our customers, and the industry.

We've just raised $45M (£33M) in Series B funding from lead investor CommerzVentures, new investor Move Capital, as well as all existing shareholders. This investment round gives us the room to grow with confidence, continue to innovate, and ensure that Artificial remains the first choice for brokers and carriers seeking a smarter way to trade digitally.

Join us, and take the chance to be a part of something that will change the landscape of insurance for generations.

About the role

We're looking for a Senior Product Manager to own outcomes end to end: framing the problem, shaping the smallest version that moves it, shipping it in collaboration with other teams, and proving whether it landed with our clients.

We are currently scaling our Product offering so you’ll be joining an established team made up of product, insurance and technical experts to meet the demands of our growing client pipeline.

This opportunity would be ideal for a Senior Product Manager who has worked in a scale-up previously, and wants to take on genuinely challenging problems in specialty insurance. It is a client-facing role: you will spend real time with clients in the specialty insurance and reinsurance market, and you will need to hold a position when a client's request and the right product decision diverge. This is a true 'hands-on' role, going beyond traditional backlog management or delivery coordination. You will also help us sharpen how the product team operates as we grow.

Responsibilities

  • Work across discovery, delivery and optimisation: turn problems and opportunities into well-shaped work with a clear hypothesis, ship it, and improve what is already live. Set the standard for how this is done, so other product managers can learn from the work you produce.
  • Decide what to build next and what to stop. Design the research and measurement that will answer the question in front of you, and show the reasoning behind each decision.
  • Lead roadmap and delivery conversations with clients as a peer. Where a client's request and the right product decision diverge, hold the position and explain why.
  • Hold scope to the smallest version that still moves the outcome, working with cross-functional teams to ship iterative enhancements, and coach that same discipline across the teams you work with.
  • Own the roadmap for your client engagement and set its direction within company strategy. Agree priorities and timing with the VP of Product, and decide what to stop and why.
  • Own a product initiative across your client engagement from start to finish, including its milestones and how you will know it has succeeded.
  • Feed what you learn from your clients into our view of the target state for digital and connected insurance businesses.

First Three Months

In the early days of your role, you’ll be expected to focus on:

  • Building relationships across teams to support project success
  • Leading discussions with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Making sure everyone at Artificial is aligned on what is important
  • Delivering against our continuous roadmap, and starting to form a view on how we'll know they've landed well with customers
  • Forming direct relationships with external stakeholders
  • Gaining meaningful insight into our current processes and ways of working that could benefit from fresh eyes
  • Taking ownership of the work flowing through your area, and building the relationships and context needed to make the calls yourself.

About you

Skills, experience and qualifications

  • 10+ years demonstrable experience working in the Product Manager or Product Owner space and delivering value to the business
  • Strategic thinker with a business mindset
  • Used to working in a fast-paced, technological environment, with all the ambiguities this presents: flexibility will be needed

We especially want to hear from you if you have:

  • Come from an InsurTech or Insurance background
  • Previously worked in a scale-up environment
  • Worked with remote development teams
  • A preference for agile working and being involved across the full product lifecycle
  • An appetite for helping a product team sharpen its operating rhythm
  • Technical fluency, able to understand and contribute to technical discussions with engineering teams.
  • Sound judgement around feasibility, performance trade-offs with the ability to make smart product choices aligned with technology impact

People skills and behaviours

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, collaboration and presentation skills
  • Acting as the translator between insurance people and our engineers
  • You’ll reach a working understanding of the specialty insurance market within your first six months, enough to hold your own with clients who work in it every day. The learning journey is yours to own, but we will support you along the way.
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas using a clear, user friendly format
  • A real ‘do-er’ and builder - someone who loves being hands-on and getting things done
  • Happy to travel to client site (City of London) as needed

Benefits

  • Private medical insurance
  • Income protection insurance
  • Life insurance of 4 * base salary
  • On-site gym and shower facilities
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • Team social events and company parties
  • Salary exchange on pension and nursery fees
  • Access to Maji, the financial wellbeing platform
  • Company stock options managed through Ledgy
  • Milestone Birthday Bonus and a Life Events leave policy
  • Generous holiday allowance of 28 days plus national holidays
  • Home office and equipment allowance, and a company MacBook
  • Learning allowance and leave to attend conferences or take exams
  • YuLife employee benefits, including EAP and bereavement helplines
  • For each new hire, we plant a tree through our partnership with Ecologi Action
  • The best coffee machine in London, handmade in Italy and imported just for us!

We’re proud to be an equal opportunities employer and are committed to building a team that reflects the diverse communities around us. If there’s anything you need to make the hiring process more accessible, just let us know—we’re happy to make adjustments. You’re also welcome to share your preferred pronouns with us at any point.

Think you don’t meet every requirement? Please apply anyway. We value potential as much as experience, and we know that raw talent counts.

As part of our hiring process, we’ll carry out some background checks. These may include a criminal record check, reviewing your credit history, speaking with previous employers and confirming your academic qualifications.
