Job Summary
Synechron is seeking an Android Developer with 6+ years of hands-on experience designing, developing and maintaining high-quality Android applications using Kotlin.
The role will contribute to the development of scalable, secure, high-performance mobile applications by applying modern Android architecture patterns, REST API integrations, reusable coding practices and effective testing approaches. The developer will collaborate with Product Managers, UI/UX Designers, QA teams and Backend Developers to deliver reliable mobile experiences aligned with business and customer needs.Experience in Banking, Financial Services, FinTech, Payments, Digital Banking, Lending, Wealth Management or Insurance applications will be an advantage.
Software Requirements
Required
- Kotlin: Strong proficiency in Kotlin for Android application development; experience should align with the current project-supported version.
- Java: Good working knowledge of Java for Android development, code maintenance and integration with existing application components.
- Android SDK: Hands-on experience developing, debugging and maintaining Android applications using the current project-supported SDK versions.
- Android Studio: Practical experience with application development, debugging, profiling, build configuration and release preparation.
- Jetpack Components: Experience using relevant Android Jetpack Components in production applications.
- MVVM and Clean Architecture: Practical experience applying MVVM Architecture and Clean Architecture principles.
- MVP: Familiarity with MVP architecture where required for existing applications.
- REST APIs and JSON: Experience integrating RESTful APIs, parsing JSON and handling API errors, authentication and response states.
- Coroutines and Flow: Experience implementing asynchronous operations, reactive data flows and lifecycle-aware application behavior.
- Dependency Injection: Experience with Dagger, Hilt, Koin or equivalent dependency-injection frameworks.
- Room Database and SQLite: Experience with local data persistence, database design, queries and data-management practices.
- Git: Experience with source control, branching, merging, pull requests and collaborative development.
- CI/CD: Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery practices for Android applications.
- Agile/Scrum: Understanding of Agile and Scrum development methodologies.
Preferred
- Jetpack Compose: Experience developing modern declarative Android user interfaces.
- Firebase Services: Knowledge of cloud-based mobile services supporting analytics, notifications, crash reporting or related capabilities.
- Unit Testing: Exposure to unit-testing frameworks and testable Android application design.
- UI Testing: Exposure to Android UI testing frameworks and automated user-flow validation.
- Cloud-Based Mobile Solutions: Experience integrating mobile applications with cloud services and backend platforms.

- Experience publishing applications through an Android application marketplace.

Android Application Development
- Design, develop, test and maintain Android applications using Kotlin.

- Troubleshoot and debug functional, integration, performance and production issues.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback aligned with coding and architecture standards.
- Collaborate with QA teams to analyze defects, improve test coverage and support resolution.
- Validate application behavior across relevant devices, operating-system versions, network conditions and user scenarios.
Performance and Reliability
- Optimize application performance, responsiveness, memory usage, battery consumption and startup time.
- Identify and resolve application bottlenecks, crashes, defects and stability issues.
- Apply effective error handling, offline behavior, retry logic and graceful failure patterns.
- Support production monitoring, issue investigation and corrective actions.
- Contribute to reliable application releases and improved user experience.
Collaboration and Delivery
- Collaborate with Product Managers, UI/UX Designers, QA teams, Backend Developers, architects and other delivery stakeholders.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Daily Standups, Sprint Reviews and Retrospectives.
- Estimate development tasks, communicate progress and identify delivery risks or dependencies.
- Support requirements clarification, technical refinement and release planning.
- Contribute to technical documentation, coding standards and engineering guidelines.
- Mentor junior developers through code reviews, knowledge sharing and practical development guidance.
Security and Compliance
- Apply mobile security best practices during design, development, testing and release activities.
- Protect sensitive data through appropriate storage, transmission, access-control and session-management practices.
- Support secure integration with banking, payment and enterprise APIs.
- Consider applicable security standards, regulatory expectations and organizational controls.
- Identify security risks and collaborate with relevant teams to address them before release.
