SURFACE WATER SERVICE LINE

POSITION SUMMARY

Launch your engineering career with Spicer Group as a first-year intern joining our Surface Water Service Line. This hands-on opportunity is designed for students who are eager to explore how engineering solutions protect communities, improve infrastructure, and responsibly manage water resources. Working alongside experienced engineers and technical professionals, you will be introduced to meaningful projects involving drainage, stormwater management, flood mitigation, watershed planning, and other surface water initiatives.

As part of Spicer Group’s collaborative team, you will build a strong foundation in consulting engineering by supporting project tasks, gathering and organizing data, learning industry tools and standards, and gaining exposure to both office and field activities under close mentorship. You will see how ideas develop into practical solutions, connect with professionals across disciplines, and grow your technical and communication skills in a supportive environment. This internship is an exciting first step for a motivated student who wants to contribute, learn, and discover the many career possibilities within engineering at Spicer Group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Acts as entry-level support for a specific service line, region, or department

• Works under close and frequent supervision; receives specific and detailed instruction as to required tasks and results expected

• Familiarizes self with Company programs, procedures, and standards

• Supports team members with group output, ongoing projects, and daily operations

• Conducts basic research, compiles data, and prepares reports or presentations as needed

• Attends team and company meetings as needed

• Completes required trainings and certifications in a timely manner

• Travels to job sites, Company events, or other Spicer offices due to business need as requested and under direct supervision

• Assists with general office or administrative tasks as needed

• Completes other miscellaneous duties and tasks as assigned

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• Currently pursuing or graduated with a high school diploma or equivalent

• Pursuing Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, or related field is preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Positive attitude and willingness to learn

• Reliable and self-motivated

• Ability to take direction and execute instructions under direct supervision

• Enthusiastic about working collaboratively

• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
