Role purpose

The Senior Director, Salesforce Platform is the enterprise leader accountable for the strategy, governance, investment, operating model and business outcomes of Finastra’s global Salesforce ecosystem. The role sets the multi-year platform direction across customer-facing capabilities, ensuring Salesforce is secure, scalable, resilient, economically sustainable and aligned to Finastra’s enterprise architecture and transformation priorities.

Operating at executive and cross-functional level, the Senior Director converts business strategy into a prioritized platform portfolio, aligns senior stakeholders on investment and trade-offs, and leads a global organization spanning product, architecture, engineering, delivery and operations. The role is accountable not only for delivery, but also for adoption, simplification, value realization and the long-term health of the platform.

Enterprise mandate

  • Own the global Salesforce platform strategy, target state and multi-year investment roadmap across Sales, Service, Marketing, Experience, Revenue and integration capabilities.
  • Provide enterprise-wide direction for platform products, architecture, data, integration, security, controls, delivery and operations.
  • Chair or lead senior governance forums that resolve priorities, funding, risk, architectural exceptions and cross-business trade-offs.
  • Create measurable business value from Salesforce investments through adoption, process simplification, standardization and disciplined portfolio management.
  • Build a high-performing global platform organization and an effective ecosystem of internal teams, implementation partners and strategic vendors.

Key accountabilities

1. Platform strategy and executive leadership

  • Define and own the enterprise Salesforce vision, strategic principles, target architecture and roadmap, aligned to Finastra’s business and technology strategies.
  • Advise the CIO and senior business leaders on platform opportunities, constraints, investment choices, sequencing and risk.
  • Translate enterprise priorities into a coherent portfolio of products, programs and releases with clear outcomes and executive sponsorship.
  • Position Salesforce as a strategic enterprise platform while preventing fragmented solutions, unnecessary customization and duplicated capability.

2. Portfolio, investment and value realization

  • Own platform portfolio planning, business cases, funding recommendations and benefits realization across run, change and transformation investments.
  • Establish transparent prioritization based on customer and business value, regulatory or operational risk, architectural fit, cost and delivery capacity.
  • Define and report executive-level measures covering adoption, experience, revenue enablement, service outcomes, delivery performance, reliability, risk and total cost of ownership.
  • Take corrective action where investments are not producing expected outcomes, including scope, delivery model, product or partner changes.

3. Enterprise governance and operating model

  • Establish and continuously improve the global platform operating model, decision rights, governance forums, standards and controls.
  • Drive consistent product management, architecture, engineering, DevSecOps, testing, release, environment and service-management practices.
  • Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture, cyber security, privacy, data governance, risk, audit and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage platform health, lifecycle, capacity, resilience, technical debt and exception remediation through explicit ownership and funded plans.

4. Product and capability leadership

  • Lead end-to-end product ownership across Salesforce domains, with accountable product leaders, outcome-based roadmaps and well-governed backlogs.
  • Standardize reusable capabilities and common processes across business units while enabling justified differentiation where it creates material value.
  • Drive an experience-led approach for users, customers and partners, supported by research, analytics, feedback and adoption planning.
  • Maintain an enterprise view of dependencies across Salesforce, MuleSoft, data platforms and the wider application landscape.

5. Architecture, data and engineering excellence

  • Be accountable for the architectural integrity and engineering quality of the platform, working through enterprise and domain architecture authorities.
  • Promote configuration and standard capability before customization, with clear guardrails for extensions and technical exceptions.
  • Advance API-led integration, trusted data, interoperability, automation and responsible use of platform AI capabilities.
  • Ensure solutions meet non-functional expectations for performance, availability, scalability, maintainability, observability and recoverability.

6. Delivery and operational accountability

  • Provide executive oversight of a multi-team global delivery portfolio, ensuring predictable execution, quality, risk management and benefits realization.
  • Own the integrated platform plan across products, programs, releases and operational commitments, resolving material dependencies and constraints.
  • Ensure robust service ownership, incident and problem management, continuity, release readiness and operational acceptance.
  • Create a culture of evidence-based delivery, rapid escalation and continuous improvement without compromising security or control.

7. Stakeholder, vendor and commercial leadership

  • Act as the senior enterprise point of accountability for Salesforce, building alignment across Sales, Customer Support, Marketing, Operations, Finance, Data, Security and Technology.
  • Lead strategic relationships with Salesforce and delivery partners, including executive governance, performance management, commercial negotiation and remediation.
  • Optimize licensing, consumption, partner capacity and sourcing models to improve value, flexibility and cost transparency.
  • Communicate strategy, decisions, progress, risks and measured outcomes clearly to executive stakeholders and governance bodies.

8. Organization and talent leadership

  • Build and lead a diverse, high-performing global organization across product management, architecture, engineering, analysis, quality, delivery and platform operations.
  • Define organization design, leadership accountabilities, workforce strategy, location mix, succession plans and critical skill development.
  • Develop senior leaders who can operate across business and technology boundaries and take end-to-end accountability for outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of customer focus, inclusion, ownership, innovation, learning and constructive challenge.
