Road Service Mechanic

🔧Diesel Mechanic

Location:  Royal Waste- Queens NY

Schedule:   Monday through Friday, starting at 7:00 PM, Saturdays until 1pm as needed.

Rate:  $30–$40/hr, depending on experience

Employment Type:   Full-time

Royal Waste Services is looking to add a Road Service Mechanic to our growing maintenance team. We are committed to hiring mechanics who prioritize driver safety , fleet reliability , and the quality of service we provide to our community . As a mechanic with us the minimum responsibilities are:

Key Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, repairs, safety checks, and diagnostics on diesel vehicles, including electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.

• Utilize vehicle computer systems to interpret failure codes and adjust Engine and Vehicle Control Modules.

• Respond to road calls and perform emergency roadside repairs.

• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs).

• Accurately complete required documentation using fleet maintenance software.

• Conduct post‑service test drives to ensure repairs meet safety and performance standards.

• Collaborate with team members on complex repairs as needed.

• Maintain professional and courteous communication with drivers.

• Keep work areas clean, organized, and compliant with OSHA and company safety standards.

• Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

What We Need From You

• Proficiency in diesel diagnostics, preventative maintenance, and repair.

• Basic tool set required.

• Must Have a valid Class B CDL or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

• Hydraulic experience is a plus.

• Strong skills in electrical and hydraulic systems

• Well-rounded experience in mechanical and welding repairs
