Technician, Failure Analysis

Key Responsibilities:

Performs failure analysis on materials and products that do not meet the specified requirement or standards. These products come from Reliability Qualifications. Failure analysis results may be used for process and product improvement.

Specific tasks involved:

• Evaluation of device history e.g., different processes and tests the device was subjected to.

• X-ray (2D &3D/CT) Analysis

• Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (SAM) Analysis

• Microscopic analysis using optical microscopes (low power and high microscopes)

• Scanning electron microscopy for microstructural analysis (SEM)

• Electron Dispersive X-ray (EDX) for elemental analysis.

• Physical micro-sectioning.

• Laser Decapsulation

• Chemical Decapsulation

• Mechanical Decapsulation

• Photomicrography or digital imaging of samples to document FA results.

• FTIR for the identification of chemical compounds.

• FA report writing.

Reviews and verifies FA results prior releasing to customers. (Applicable for T2 only) Performs critical review of FA results and escalates to deeper-level analysis when preliminary results are inconclusive or insufficient for accurate disposition. Evaluates and develops new procedures and systems for Failure Analysis Laboratory. Reviews and revises specifications and manuals which are applicable to Failure Analysis Laboratory operations. Conducts regular inventory of chemicals, apparatus and other laboratory supplies and recommends purchases of those that are running out of stock. Performs task in support of identified Key Performance Indicators (KPI) to meet departmental goals. Maintains records in soft and hard copies of all analysis results for future reference and traceability. Conducts housekeeping before and after work to maintain cleanliness around the work area to avoid damage and contamination of products and equipment. Apply the guidelines provided by the Environment, Health, and Safety department to help achieve its objectives and targets. Participates in individual or team-based projects for the achievement of company goals. Performs other assignments which may be assigned by superiors.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of Electronics or Chemical Technology or related course
