JOB SUMMARY With a commitment to patient and family centered care, the Patient Care Technician (PCT) provides designated direct and indirect patient care activities under the direction and supervision of the licensed clinical team members in ways that value the uniqueness of each individual and addresses the physiological, emotional, and social needs of the diversity of patients served by Jefferson Health. QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required or preferred. Education - Required • High School Diploma/GED Experience - Preferred • Less than 1 year Previous nursing assistant or healthcare experience preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Required • Knowledge of medical terminology, patient care needs and their role in interprofessional team. • Ability to complete delegated tasks within scope of role. • Knowledge of personal care and hygiene necessary for quality of life, and ability to apply this knowledge to patients in need on a daily basis. • Knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks. • Knowledge of how to convey respect and collaborate with each patient, family and/or designated care partner in care. • Knowledge of people with diverse backgrounds and the ability to convey respect and connect effectively. • Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques, ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Uses the language of partnership with patients and families, engaging them in their health and health care. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR. ☐ Heavy Very high energy level Lift over 50 lbs.
