GHANA COUNTRY CONTEXT
World Vision is a global leader in improving and transforming the lives of children, their families, and their communities. In1979, it expanded its operations to Ghana, a country situated in West Africa, and registered under the name, World Vision Ghana. Ghana has a diverse multiethnic population of over 31 million people, with a majority of the population being of Christian faith. The country also performs relatively well in metrics of healthcare, economic growth, and human development. World Vision Ghana’s head office is based in the capital city, Accra with two additional regional field offices, one based in Accra and the other in Tamale an area in the Northern part of Ghana. The portfolio of programs serves over 40,000 registered children within the various communities; the office operates in 18 Area Programmes and Grant project in 14 out of the 16 regions in Ghana. This is governed by a Board of Directors, whilst its operations are managed by a Senior Leadership team. The office has a staff strength of about 250 employees who are currently supporting the organisation to implement its FY26-30 Operations Strategy aimed at empowering 2.5 million most vulnerable children directly and indirectly with Health and Nutrition, Education and skills development, Water Sanitation and Hygiene as well as food security and livelihood interventions
JOB PURPOSE
The National Director (ND) will strategically lead, develop and direct the implementation of World Vision Ghana Strategy, in alignment with the Government of Ghana priorities and Our Promise. In performing this role, the ND will be an effective leader locally, an effective member of the broader WVI Partnership, and will model the organization’s principles of Twin Citizenship to ensure high ministry quality and overall organizational effectiveness. The ND as a leader will contribute to partnership life and unity, by acting as both a local and global representative of the organization. The ND will ensure the country's operations and operating models maintain the Partnership's focus on Child Well Being outcomes and aspirations as they apply in the Ghanaian specific country context, maximizing the impact in the field while maintaining efficiency as wise stewards of entrusted resources.
The ND will lead national resource development, leading local fund raising and ensuring growth of local resources through effective partnerships with Government of Ghana, the private sector, individual Ghanaians and the Church and the members of WV Ghana. The ND will also ensure the office collaborates effectively with the WV Ghana Board, other partnership offices and divisions to achieve local and organizational goals.
The ND will also continue to position WV Ghana as a learning centre in the Partnership on localization, while continuing to grow locally restricted funding, including effectively managing locally acquired awards to donor expectations; as well as effectively managing relations with donors locally.
Externally, the ND will foster collaboration with major donors, project partners, local government, church representatives, faith-based organizations and non-governmental organizations. In doing so, he/she will maximize stewardship, effectiveness and efficiency of costs and operating models.
The ND must model a high standard of personal Christian leadership, ministry and integrity; leading by example and providing spiritual guidance to staff on the WV Vision, Mission and Core Values.
Leadership and Management of WV Ghana

Promote WV’s Vision, Mission, Core Values and key Partnership Standards and Practices among the staff and partners and ensure these are the core foundation of WV Ghana strategies and work.

Lead the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and ensure diverse representation on the leadership team.

Strong focus on leadership and people management, ensuring the most capable and qualified staff members are in place to implement office strategy and operational plans.

Review and approve WV Ghana’s succession plan; ensure that proper capacity is in place and succession plans are updated and executed.

Promote and participate in leadership development initiatives, including those for staff at management levels in the field and at the NO level.

Lead and manage WV Ghana’s team in a way that facilitates a high performance culture, open trustworthy relationships and integrity.

Promote a culture of learning and development, employee engagement and good stewardship of human capital in the office.

Ensure implementation and compliance to Partnership Performance Management Standards and Principles, while seeking to implement Performance Management guidelines on reasonable level.

Champion WV Ghana’s leadership team in the proper implementation of Performance Evaluations on a mid –term and annual basis for the whole organization.

Support initiatives for staff care and well-being, both for international and local employees.

Ensure excellent standards in the management of the human, financial, capital and technical resources of the organization, which includes inspiring and maintaining high standards of work and clear accountability to stakeholders.

Visit field projects frequently to encourage, build relationships and support WV programs.

Ensure that initiatives directed to build capacity required to implement local fundraising are included in the office capacity- building plan.
Strategy, Operating Plan and Long and Short Term Targets

Ensure there is a documented office strategy, Ministry strategies and operating plans, and the latter have been derived from the office strategy and has clear, measurable short-term and long-term targets.

Ensure that Ministry strategies are aligned with Regional and Partnership strategic priorities.

Ensure there are clear strategies for People and Culture, Communications and other main functions, and they are based on the office strategy and operational plan and include main priority areas identified in respective Regional and Partnership Strategies.

Facilitate and be accountable for the execution and monitoring of strategies.
Ministry Performance

Ensure high quality Ministry approaches that align with LEAP 3 principles and ensure best practice development work at scale.

Ensure strong ability to measure Child Well Being (CWB) outcomes and maintain a green rating on the CWB report each year.

Ensure strong engagement in international and local resource mobilization, including positioning and support to grant acquisition efforts to raise additional resources and diversify WV Ghana’s portfolio.

Ensure the highest standards of quality and accountability through compliance with World Vision policies and standards and international standards for emergency response, disaster mitigation, rehabilitation and development.

Ensure all project proposals, reports, integrated audits and Ministry evaluations are reviewed at a proper level within the office and appropriate actions are implemented, to ensure impact, accountability and compliance.

Ensure that a strong national Monitoring, Learning & Evaluation (ML&E) strategy is in place and that ML&E systems are streamlined to reduce processes and focus on child well-being.
