The successful candidate will champion interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation while fostering excellence in teaching, learning, student success, and industry engagement.

Reporting to the Dean, the Associate Dean provides broad academic leadership to the diverse programs within the Norton Wolf School of Aerospace, Information, and Defence Technologies and ensures the objectives of the School’s programs are attained through effective supervision of teaching and learning processes. The Associate Dean facilitates the ongoing review of existing programs and the development of new programs to reflect changing market conditions, technological advances, workforce requirements, and emerging industry needs in aerospace, aviation, information technology, cybersecurity, defence, and related sectors, in alignment with the College's strategic plan.

The Associate Dean conducts investigations of complaints from students and staff and initiates appropriate problem-solving processes. The Associate Dean establishes positive relationships with industry, government, professional associations, and community stakeholders and participates in the College's student recruitment, retention, partnership development, and graduate employment initiatives.

Provides Academic Leadership

Provides recommendations to the Dean on the school’s strategic plan, goals and objectives

Works collaboratively in the development and implementation of the school’s/faculty’s strategic plan as part of the College’s academic planning process

Contributes to the academic well-being of the College through competent planning and administration of the School’s programs and services

Initiates, facilitates and actively participates in the development and implementation of new academic programs, leading the advancement of the new academic programs’ approval through the College’s stage-gate process , and the ongoing review of existing programs in response to changing economic and market pressures, changing technology and employment opportunities according to business/industry/field standards and College/Ministry guidelines

Ensures that the objectives of the school/faculty are attained through effective supervision of the teaching and learning processes including the provision of appropriate learning resources and maintenance of close contacts with the external community, advisory committee and other educational institutions

Participates in the development of new program initiatives to assist the College with the new partnerships and strategic alliances, and the development and implementation of alternative learning and delivery strategies.

Ensures that the current and future educational needs of students are met by providing an ongoing review of programs; determines need for modification of existing courses/programs and the introduction of new programs

Chairs several committees and represents the school/faculty on College-wide and provincial committees. Involves holding executive positions from time-to-time and facilitating college-wide initiatives

Promotes community ventures by forming linkages/networks and develops/establishes partnership arrangements through advisory committees, agreements and projects

Advises and counsels students to help them resolve problems and coordinates crisis management strategies for vulnerable students

Supports the Ontario Human Rights Code in that the needs of students with disabilities must be accommodated to ensure equal access to educational services

Manages and Develops Human Resources

Maintains a high level of performance through effective recruiting, selecting, developing, motivating, evaluating and training of faculty and support staff within the assigned portfolio
