Technical Engineer – Java 17/21, Spring Boot, Microservices, Kafka & IAM

Job Summary

Synechron is seeking a hands-on Technical Engineer to design, build, and operate distributed identity platforms using modern microservices architecture, cloud technologies, event-driven systems, and AI-assisted engineering practices. The role will lead the development and maintenance of Java-based microservices that support enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) capabilities, including authentication, authorization, entitlement, and customer access platforms. The Technical Lead Engineer will contribute across the full software delivery lifecycle, guide technical decisions, mentor engineers, and help establish engineering standards that improve security, scalability, reliability, and delivery quality.

Software Requirements

Required Software Skills

• Java 17+/21: 12+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on Java development.

• Spring Framework 6/7: Experience developing enterprise applications and microservices.

• Spring Boot 2.5/3.5: Experience building, deploying, and maintaining production-grade services.

• RESTful APIs: Strong experience with REST API design, development, documentation, and integration.

• Apache Kafka: Experience with event streaming, messaging, and event-driven service design.

• PostgreSQL: Experience with relational data modeling, querying, and application integration.

• MongoDB: Experience with document-oriented data storage and retrieval.

• Redis: Experience supporting caching, low-latency data access, or distributed application use cases.

• ReactJS, TypeScript, JavaScript, or HTML5/CSS3: Strong experience with at least one of these front-end technologies.

• AI engineering tools: Experience using Claude Code and GitHub Copilot to support software development and code-quality improvement.

• CI/CD tools and practices: Experience implementing automated build, test, security, and deployment workflows.

• Infrastructure as Code: Experience managing infrastructure through code-based provisioning and configuration.

• DevSecOps practices: Experience integrating security controls throughout the software development and delivery lifecycle.

• Experience with enterprise IAM platforms, especially SailPoint and related identity ecosystems.

Overall Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and operate Java-based microservices supporting enterprise IAM capabilities.

• Build secure authentication, authorization, entitlement, and customer access platforms.

• Develop scalable REST APIs and event-driven services using appropriate architectural and design patterns.

• Design solutions for distributed systems, high availability, reliability, scalability, and performance.

• Apply domain-driven design, API-first architecture, and maintainable software design principles.

• Contribute to architecture discussions, technical design reviews, solution decisions, and engineering standards.

• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, automated testing, and DevSecOps controls.

• Use Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, and other approved AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate delivery and improve code quality.

• Review code and technical designs to promote security, reliability, maintainability, and consistency.

• Collaborate with product owners, architects, security teams, engineers, and other stakeholders to convert requirements into deliverable solutions.

• Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, knowledge sharing, and support for engineering best practices.

• Troubleshoot complex application, integration, performance, security, and production issues.

• Establish measurable outcomes related to system availability, response time, deployment quality, defect reduction, security compliance, and delivery predictability.

• Support efficient use of compute, storage, and processing resources through appropriate architecture, automation, and performance optimization practices.
