The Department of Physics & Astronomy in the College of Arts & Sciences offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a department recognized for its commitment to research, teaching, and student success. Reporting to the Director of Administrative Services, the Business Operations Manager serves as the department's principal fiscal advisor and budget authority, providing strategic leadership for financial and administrative operations. This position is responsible for budget development and management, fiscal analysis, financial accountability, resource allocation, and operational planning in support of departmental and college priorities.

You will supervise support staff and ensure the delivery of efficient, effective business operations. Working closely with department and school leadership, this position plays a key role in planning, decision-making, and the implementation of departmental and university policies, procedures, and initiatives. The assigned portfolio may evolve as needed to support the changing priorities of the College of Arts & Sciences and the university.

Additional Information

This is a full time (100% FTE), permanent position. Overtime eligibility will be determined based on final salary placement.

This position is an on-site/in-person role located on the WSU campus in Pullman, WA.

Monthly Salary: $4,942.10 - $7,569 | Commensurate with experience and qualifications

In accordance with RCW 49.58.110 , the above salary reflects the full salary range for this position. Individual placement within the range is based on the candidate’s current experience, education, skills, and abilities related to the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet, database, word processing, e-mail, and calendaring software.
  • Experience with budget, personnel, and management of financial resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • More than 2 years of fiscal experience in an academic department in a higher education setting.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with WSU systems.
  • Experience with Workday system.
