About the Role

The Director, AML/CFT Governance, Quality Control & Reporting is responsible for leading and executing governance, quality control, and reporting activities that support the Bank's AML/CFT Compliance Program. Reporting to the Vice President, BSA & Sanctions Governance, Quality Control, & Reporting, this role helps ensure the program operates in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory guidance, and internal policies while supporting a strong control environment for the identification, escalation, monitoring, and mitigation of financial crimes risk.

As a leader within the Financial Crimes Compliance organization, the Director partners with the Vice President, Risk Management, Compliance, Internal Audit, Legal, Operations, and business line partners to promote consistent execution, transparency, and accountability. The role supports governance routines, quality control programs, management reporting, issue management, and program effectiveness metrics that provide insight into financial crimes risks and compliance performance.

What You Will Do

Governance and Program Oversight

  • Support and execute the Bank's AML/CFT governance framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and the Bank's risk appetite.
  • Help develop and maintain governance standards for centralized management of policies, procedures, oversight routines, and escalation processes across the Financial Crimes Compliance Program.
  • Assist VP in managing AML/CFT governance committees and working groups, including agenda development, issue escalation, meeting coordination, decision documentation, and action item tracking, under the oversight of the Vice President.
  • Assess AML/CFT processes, providing effective challenge and oversight to identify opportunities for improvement, develop strategies to enhance program effectiveness, and drive sustainable efficiency gains.
  • Support the oversight of the AML/CFT program issue management, including timely reporting and management of corrective action plan lifecycles, to ensure proper escalation, resolution, and sustainable remediation of issues.
  • Support enterprise-wide risk management initiatives through effective monitoring and reporting of financial crimes risks and control effectiveness.
  • Support regulatory examinations, audits, and independent reviews for governance-related matters, including preparing materials, coordinating responses, and escalating key items to the Vice President.
  • Monitor regulatory developments, enforcement actions, and industry trends, evaluating potential impacts and recommending enhancements to program governance and controls.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership and stakeholders across the organization to strengthen compliance culture and drive continuous program improvement.

Quality Control and Program Effectiveness

  • Lead day-to-day execution of the Quality Control program for the AML/CFT Risk Management Program team, helping drive consistent quality reviews across team functions, including risk assessment, training, CDD/EDD reviews, and partner oversight.
  • Help design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive risk-based quality control framework to evaluate compliance with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and operational standards.
  • Identify control weaknesses, process inefficiencies, emerging risks, and opportunities to strengthen program effectiveness.
  • Conduct trend analysis and root cause assessments to determine drivers of quality issues and develop corrective action recommendations.
  • Support the establishment quality standards, review methodologies, sampling protocols, and performance metrics to measure quality, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Monitor remediation efforts and validate corrective actions to ensure sustainable resolution of identified deficiencies.
  • Develop and communicate quality metrics, trends, and performance results to senior management and governance committees.
  • Collaborate with operational teams and business partners to implement process improvements and strengthen control effectiveness.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and regulatory excellence throughout the Financial Crimes Compliance organization.

Reporting and Management Information

  • Manage the development, governance, validation, and delivery of executive management and committee reporting related to the AML/CFT Compliance Program, with oversight from the Vice President.
  • Ensure reporting provides accurate, timely, and meaningful insight into financial crimes risks, operational performance, compliance effectiveness, and emerging trends.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of management information systems, dashboards, scorecards, and reporting packages supporting strategic decision-making and effective risk oversight.
  • Help establish and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and Key Control Indicators (KCIs) to measure program effectiveness and control performance.
  • Analyze and communicate trends related to transaction monitoring, suspicious activity, sanctions screening, customer risk profiles, investigations, and quality control outcomes.
  • Ensure the integrity, accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data utilized in management and regulatory reporting.
  • Prepare and present program performance, risk trends, control effectiveness, regulatory developments, and remediation progress to leadership and governance committees, as appropriate.
  • Partner with Technology and Data Management teams to enhance reporting capabilities, automation, data governance, and reporting efficiency.
  • Support initiatives to improve reporting analytics, visualization, and management decision support capabilities.
  • Produce ad hoc reports and analyses supporting strategic initiatives, examinations, audits, and regulatory inquiries.

Leadership and Team Management

  • Provide operational leadership for assigned Governance, Quality Control, and Reporting team members and activities within the Financial Crimes Compliance organization.
  • Coach, develop, and support team members through clear expectations, feedback, professional development, and effective workload management.
  • Establish clear performance expectations, accountability standards, and department objectives aligned with organizational goals.
