Job Description
Senior Directory Services Engineer
The Hartford’s Information Protection (THIP) organization is looking for talented professionals to join a high-performing team that is charged with supporting and enhancing our core Directory Services platforms . As a Directory Services engineer , this position will be part of the primary technical team tasked with engineering and maintaining directory services platforms including Active Directory , Active Roles Server (ARS ) and CyberArk . The individual will have the opportunity to help shape the future direction and use of the applications as they are currently deployed at the Hartford . Additionally, the position will have broad accountabilities around currency and patching for all Directory Servi ces technologies . This role will provide thought leadership, professional support and valued contributions to a range of production support, development and project activities. We are looking for an experienced professional, who has a breadth of knowledge and skills across various technical acumens , along with an understanding of industry best practices.
The right person will develop a deep understanding of the platforms usage and consumption , continuously advocate for automation and process efficiency, and where necessary challenge and influence management to take actions to appropriately utilize the systems . The role is heavily focused on ensuring currency and stability in the environment . The right person will have a wide-ranging technical knowledge with a desire to learn and grow their technical skills across the noted domains.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for performing and overseeing the execution of the following:
Technical Expert for engineering and support for Active Directory systems – Includes monitoring overall health and well-being of the Active Directory environments, playing a key role on the current team as an ambassador for currency and stability, and analyzing and implementing required changes, patches and upgrades for Domain Controllers and various ancillary systems.
Technical Support for various Directory Services technologies – Accountable for helping the existing engineers with support of directory services technologies, including Active Directory, OneIdentity Safeguard / Active Roles Server (ARS), CyberArk and Azure AD (Entra) . This work will range from production support to project related activities.
Process design / automation implementation – Includes reviewing the current systems and processes associated with Directory Services and helping design more efficient and automated solution s where feasible .
Qualifications

A broad and diverse technical background.

Multiple years supporting Active Directory

Fluent in domain controller functionality and behaviors

Strong overall knowledge of Intel servers

A track record in production support / system support activities.

Strong decision-making capabilities, with a proven ability to weigh the relative costs and benefits of potential actions and identify the most appropriate actions .

Confidence to effectively influence others to modify their opinions, plans, or behaviors.

Excellent prioritization capabilities, with an aptitude for breaking down work into manageable parts, effectively assessing the priority and time required to complete each part.

Organizational skills that enables one to work on several tasks simultaneously, providing management with appropriate insight into the workload and priorities.

A successful candidate will possess some or all of the following background and experiences :

BS or MA in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Security, or related field.

4+ years supporting directory services and/or identity management related technologies
