Job Description
As a Systems Engineer / Presales Engineer within HPE Networking , you will be responsible for the technical success of networking opportunities across an assigned portfolio of strategic Enterprise customers .
You will develop a strong understanding of each customer’s business priorities, technology strategy, existing infrastructure, operational model, and future transformation plans. Based on this understanding, you will provide relevant technical guidance and position HPE Networking as a trusted, long-term technology partner.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Engagement and Trusted Advisory
- Act as the primary technical advisor for an assigned portfolio of Enterprise customers and opportunities.
- Build trusted relationships with customer technical decision-makers, network architects, engineers, infrastructure and security teams, IT management, operations teams, and executive stakeholders.
- Understand customers’ business objectives, technology strategies, existing infrastructure, operational challenges, and future architecture plans.
- Provide technical and architectural guidance aligned with customer priorities and long-term transformation plans.
- Help customers develop technology roadmaps and evaluate modernization opportunities across their networking infrastructure.
Sales Alignment and Opportunity Development
- Work closely with the aligned sales organization to develop account strategies, identify and qualify opportunities, shape customer requirements, and drive successful engagements.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the sales cycle, from discovery and account planning through solution validation and closure.
- Influence technical requirements and solution direction early in the customer decision-making process.
- Identify technical risks, address customer objections, and help increase the probability of successful opportunity closure.
- Proactively identify new technical opportunities and contribute to long-term account and technology strategies.
Solution Architecture and Design
- Design end-to-end enterprise networking architectures covering:
- Wired and wireless networking
- Campus and data center networking
- Routing, resiliency, and segmentation
- Network management, automation, operations, and security
- Related connectivity solutions
- Translate complex customer requirements into scalable, resilient, secure, and operationally efficient architectures.
- Provide architectural guidance for large-scale and business-critical environments, considering availability, performance, security, interoperability, manageability, lifecycle, and operational requirements.
- Select and size appropriate products, software platforms, licenses, and solution components.
Presentations and Technical Validation
- Present HPE Networking technologies, architectures, and value propositions to technical teams, IT leadership, and executive stakeholders.
- Conduct technical discovery sessions, architecture workshops, solution presentations, demonstrations, whiteboarding discussions, and executive-level technical briefings.
- Plan and execute Proof-of-Concept, Proof-of-Value, interoperability testing, benchmarking, and other technical validation activities where required.
- Clearly communicate technical findings, risks, outcomes, and recommendations.
RFP, RFI, and RFQ Leadership
- Provide technical leadership for RFP, RFI, and RFQ responses.
- Take ownership of architecture development, compliance analysis, solution design, product selection and sizing, technical documentation, and requirement clarification.
- Ensure proposed solutions are complete, supportable, and aligned with customer business and technical expectations.
Competitive Positioning
- Evaluate competitive technologies and architectures and clearly articulate HPE Networking’s differentiation, technical advantages, operational benefits, and business value.
- Maintain awareness of enterprise networking trends, emerging technologies, industry standards, competitive products, and evolving architectural approaches.
- Apply and share competitive insights during account planning, architecture discussions, technical presentations, and objection handling.
Partner and Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate technical resources across HPE, including product specialists, engineering, product management, support, professional services, and other subject matter experts.
- Collaborate with HPE channel partners, distributors, and their technical teams to develop high-quality solutions and ensure consistent technical execution.
- Contribute field experience, customer feedback, competitive intelligence, technical insights, and reusable best practices to the broader HPE Networking organization.
- Support the wider Systems Engineering team through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and joint customer engagements.
Technical Knowledge and Enablement
- Maintain strong knowledge of HPE Networking products, architectures, software platforms, licensing models, and relevant industry technologies and standards.
- Continuously develop knowledge of enterprise customer priorities, networking trends, emerging technologies, and competitive developments.
- Contribute to customer events, executive briefings, technical workshops, partner enablement sessions, webinars, demonstrations, and other field initiatives.
- Maintain appropriate opportunity documentation and contribute to reusable solution architectures and technical knowledge within the organization.

Desired Experience and Qualifications
- Strong enterprise networking experience, preferably in presales engineering, systems engineering, consulting, solution architecture, or senior network engineering.
- Solid understanding of enterprise LAN and WLAN technologies, including switching, Wi-Fi, routing, resiliency, segmentation, security, automation, and network management.
- Experience designing and troubleshooting large-scale and complex enterprise network environments.
- Ability to translate complex customer business and technical requirements into complete solution architectures.
- Experience with technical sales activities, including discovery, account planning, solution design, presentations, demonstrations, PoCs, and RFP responses.
