Description

Position Summary

The Fort Lewis College Laboratory for the Humanistic Study of a More-than-Human-World is a campus-wide interdisciplinary curricular and research initiative that utilizes humanistic methods to nurture an understanding of relationships between humans, non-humans, and their environments. This initiative, which is funded by the Mellon Foundation, supports the creation of new general education modules, upper-division interdisciplinary courses, undergraduate research opportunities, and professional development opportunities to strengthen humanistic inquiry across disciplines. It culminates in the creation of an open-access digital resource documenting pedagogical models, student work, and curricular innovations that can be adapted at FLC and elsewhere.

The Graphic Designer will create a cohesive visual identity for the project to be used across initiatives. Initial responsibilities will focus on the development and delivery of a brand identity system, including a logo, color palette, typography, illustrative asset library, and promotional templates. Following completion of these initial deliverables, the Graphic Designer may provide additional design services in support of Laboratory programming, communications, and grant activities as needs arise during the term of the appointment.

The Graphic Designer will be supervised by the Programming Development Coordinator and will work collaboratively with the grant team throughout the design and review process. The successful candidate will bring a distinctive voice to their design work, strong design skills and attention to detail, and an interest in translating the Laboratory's interdisciplinary mission into an accessible and adaptable visual identity.
