Key Responsibilities

1. Mainframe Network Resource Management

• Maintain and administer mainframe logical network resources within IBM z/OS environments.

• Perform weekly Network Management System (NMS) database updates for CDRSC/JES2 corporate table distributions.

• Perform weekly NETMENU maintenance, including additions, deletions, changes, and updates to load libraries.

• Maintain and update VTAM network definitions, configurations, and connectivity tables.

• Process NetView user ID requests, including additions, deletions, and modifications.

• Manage TCP/IP port reservations, including additions, deletions, and changes.

• Perform VTAM APPLID and PU/LU updates to support application and network connectivity requirements.

2. Network Connectivity and Configuration

• Implement, configure, customize, and maintain new OSA (Open Systems Adapter) interfaces and network connectivity.

• Implement and configure Enterprise Extender connectivity for mainframe network communication.

• Configure and maintain secure Telnet and FTP connectivity.

• Implement and customize Policy Agent, AT-TLS (Application Transparent Transport Layer Security), and TLS 1.2 connectivity.

• Troubleshoot and resolve network configuration issues related to VTAM, TCP/IP, and mainframe connectivity.

• Ensure network configurations comply with operational and security requirements.

3. NETMENU and Batch Processing

• Perform scheduled weekly NETMENU updates, including additions, deletions, and changes.

• Apply and update load libraries to incorporate network configuration changes, fixes, and maintenance updates.

• Utilize IBM utilities, JCL (Job Control Language), batch jobs, and procedures to execute network maintenance activities.

• Perform weekly CMCMAINT and batch job processing.

• Review and correct batch jobs and processes supporting mainframe software maintenance and VTAM table distribution across SMCs.

• Support troubleshooting and implementation of changes to ensure successful processing and distribution.

4. Disaster Recovery and Mainframe Upgrade Support

• Participate in client disaster recovery exercises to validate mainframe network readiness and recovery procedures.

• Provide network support during z/OS upgrades and system maintenance activities.

• Support CPU hardware refresh initiatives, including network configuration validation and connectivity testing.

• Perform FIXLIB updates and corrections required for mainframe software support.

• Assist in identifying and resolving issues affecting network operations during upgrades and hardware refreshes.

5. SMP/E Software Installation and Administration

• Perform Software Management Program/Extended (SMP/E) installations, upgrades, maintenance, and configuration of IBM and third-party mainframe products.

• Administer program products, including additions, modifications, and deletions.

• Install, upgrade, and maintain software products using SMP/E.

• Support software packaging, maintenance implementation, and configuration activities.

• Troubleshoot software installation and maintenance issues within the mainframe environment.

6. IBM NetView and Network Management Tools

• Install, upgrade, maintain, and configure IBM NetView.

• Develop and maintain REXX routines to automate network management and operational tasks.

• Configure and support automated alerts for network events and operational monitoring.

• Administer NetView Security Interface (NETSSI) for command processing authority.

• Support network automation and administration using NWA1500 – Network Automation & Toolbox.

• Maintain and support mainframe network session management and access tools, including: CA NetSpy Session Managers.TPX and CL/Supersession.NetView Access MVS (NVAS) .NET-PASS (NET/PROC).NC-Access MVS and NC-NIM MVS.NCI/XF.VTAM/Switch/MVS.Intersession Menu.NetView Access V2 MVS (NWA1500).

7. Incident, Problem, and Change Management

• Manage and resolve incidents, problems, and change requests in accordance with ITIL processes.

• Participate in software asset management activities and product lifecycle administration.

• Investigate and troubleshoot mainframe network incidents and connectivity issues.

• Document technical changes, maintenance activities, and incident resolutions.

• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to implement approved changes and maintain service availability.

8. Audit, Compliance, and Vulnerability Remediation

• Participate in client and internal audits related to mainframe network operations and security.

• Support the identification, assessment, and remediation of audit findings and security vulnerabilities.

• Implement corrective actions in accordance with security policies and compliance requirements.

• Maintain appropriate technical documentation and evidence of remediation activities.

9. 24/7 On-Call Support

• Participate in a rotating 24/7 on-call support schedule.

• Provide technical support for critical mainframe network incidents and connectivity issues.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production-related issues within established service-level agreements (SLAs).

• Coordinate with technical teams and stakeholders during critical incidents and planned maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications and Technical Skills

• Experience supporting IBM z/OS mainframe environments and enterprise network infrastructure.

• Hands-on experience with VTAM, TCP/IP, IBM NetView, and mainframe network management.

• Knowledge of CDRSC, JES2, APPLIDs, PU/LU definitions, and mainframe logical network resources.

• Experience with JCL, IBM utilities, batch jobs, procedures, and load library maintenance.

• Experience implementing and maintaining OSA interfaces and Enterprise Extender connectivity.

• Knowledge of secure Telnet, FTP, Policy Agent, AT-TLS, and TLS 1.2.

• Experience with SMP/E software installation, upgrades, configuration, and maintenance.

• Familiarity with REXX scripting and NetView automation.

• Understanding of ITIL processes, including Incident, Problem, Change, and Software Asset Management.

• Experience supporting disaster recovery exercises, z/OS upgrades, and hardware refresh initiatives.

• Ability to participate in rotating 24/7 on-call support.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise or client-facing mainframe infrastructure.

• Knowledge of NetView security administration and command processing authorization.

• Experience with mainframe session managers and network access tools.

• Experience supporting audit findings and vulnerability remediation.

• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

• Ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional technical teams.
