This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable.

Our fluids team is in the midst of an aggressive build and test campaign for the New Glenn Gen 2 Booster, a 9-engine vehicle with complex pressurized liquid and gas systems. As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you will work on the design, analysis, development, and qualification of these pressurized liquid and gas systems on a reusable launch vehicle operating in extreme environments — from cryogenic to hot gas temperatures.

With the core engineering team based in Kent, Washington, this role exists to provide a dedicated, technically strong presence at our Florida operations facility, keeping builds on track, catching issues early, and ensuring engineering is represented on the production floor. You will share the team's impact on all aspects of detailed mechanical design, including requirements, layouts, analysis, component selection, modeling, drafting, manufacturing, and test definition.

To be successful in this position, you will have proven skills in mechanical design, fluid/thermal analysis, structural analysis, material selection, manufacturing processes, engineering release, component/system development testing, and vendor/project management. We are looking for someone beyond entry level to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.

This is a full-time, on-site position in Florida or Washington; remote work is not available.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline

• 5+ years of proven professional engineering experience in a relevant field (aerospace, oil and gas, industrial fluid systems, power generation, or similar)

• Demonstrated hands-on experience with the design, build, or production of fluid system components or assemblies in an industrial or aerospace environment

• Proficiency in Creo (PTC) or equivalent 3D CAD platform, with the ability to create and modify models and drawings in a production support context

• Experience producing and interpreting engineering drawings with GD&T per ASME Y14.5

• Solid working knowledge of fluid system components, including valves, tubing, fittings, regulators, filters, manifolds, flex hoses, and pressurized hardware

• Experience using SQL to query databases, generate reports, and manage production or supply chain data

• Demonstrated supply chain awareness, including experience coordinating with vendors, tracking hardware deliveries, and supporting procurement or material review activities

• Experience functioning in a technical project manager capacity, maintaining schedules, driving action items, and coordinating across multi-disciplinary teams

• Ability to work on-site in Florida full-time; this role requires consistent physical presence at the Florida operations facility

• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional working relationships across functions, and contribute to a culture of inclusion and accountability

• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum (required per export control regulations)

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent

• Direct experience in aerospace production or manufacturing environments, including familiarity with build travelers, non-conformance (NCR) processes, and configuration management

• Hands-on experience with cryogenic fluid systems, including liquid oxygen, liquid hydrogen, liquid methane, and liquid nitrogen, including handling, testing, and insulation requirements

• Relevant experience from oil and gas, LNG, industrial gas, or high-pressure process industries, particularly with large-scale fluid system installation, commissioning, or operations

• Experience with thermal insulation design and installation for cryogenic piping and components (e.g., MLI, foam, aerogel blankets, vacuum-jacketed lines)

• Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS preferred) for structural or pressure analysis of fluid system hardware

• Familiarity with thermo-fluid analysis tools such as AFT Fathom/Arrow, Thermal Desktop, REFPROP, or Excel-based fluid models

• Experience with component-level testing in cryogenic or high-pressure gas environments, including test procedure writing and data analysis

• Working knowledge of fabrication processes relevant to fluid systems, including orbital welding, tube bending, machined component assembly, pressure/leak testing, and NDE

• Familiarity with aerospace standards applicable to pressurized systems (NASA-STD-7001, AIAA S-080, ASME BPVC, applicable MIL specs)

• Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and author engineering disposition or corrective action documentation (e.g., MRB, NCR, waiver/deviation)

Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20
