This position provides real-time operational monitoring and technical coordination across RTD’s multimodal transit system, supporting Bus, Light Rail, and Commuter Rail services to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable movement of passengers. This position is supervised by the Assistant Manager, Regional Operations Center (ROC) and plays a critical role in monitoring normal, degraded, and emergency system conditions in a dynamic, safety-sensitive operational environment.

The role is responsible for monitoring transit vehicles, infrastructure systems, and operational technologies across multiple transit modes while coordinating with Operations, Supervisors, Transit System & Support personnel, maintenance teams, and engineering staff to support reliable passenger service. This role performs duties in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with applicable rules, procedures, and work instructions while maintaining radio, data, and electronic communications with operators, supervisors, maintenance personnel, and engineering teams to support timely and accurate operational coordination.

This position utilizes integrated operational systems including CAD/AVL, SCADA, Transit CCTV, and other control room technologies to monitor fleet health, system performance, and technical conditions affecting transit service. Through these systems, this position detects operational anomalies, reviews system alerts, and monitors vehicles in service to identify potential faults or performance issues. Fault reports are received, recorded, and managed within the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system to ensure accurate tracking and coordination of troubleshooting and repair activities.

This position responds immediately to system alarms, equipment faults, service disruptions, or operational incidents by assessing the situation and coordinating with operations staff, field technicians, maintenance personnel, and engineering teams until the issue is resolved. This role assists with troubleshooting efforts, analyzes log entries and system data to support root cause identification, and prepares operational logs and incident reports related to equipment failures or service disruptions.

This position monitors and communicates service impacts to support customer awareness and operational coordination. Responsibilities include issuing service alerts, updating passenger information systems, and coordinating public address announcements related to service disruptions, detours, station or stop closures, construction activities, high-volume events, and travel time delays. This role ensures that operational information is communicated to customers through digital channels, mobile applications, websites, and station messaging systems in clear and easily understood language.

This position also utilizes real-time transit information, CCTV monitoring systems, and other operational tools to observe system conditions, verify reported incidents, and support situational awareness across the transit network. During operational incidents or service disruptions, this position serves as a central coordination point between the ROC, operations staff, maintenance personnel, and engineering teams to support safe and continuous service delivery.

Additional responsibilities include documenting system faults, maintaining operational logs, attending required meetings and training, applying Safety Management System (SMS) principles, supporting the agency’s Public Transportation Agency Safety Plan (PTASP), and promoting safety awareness in all operational activities.

Success in this role requires strong technical awareness, analytical skills, and operational judgment. This position must effectively coordinate across operations, maintenance, and engineering teams, respond to dynamic system conditions, and support high-quality, safe, and reliable multimodal transit service for RTD passengers.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL

Monitor and coordinate real-time technical conditions affecting multimodal transit operations, including Bus, Light Rail, and Commuter Rail vehicles, infrastructure systems, maintenance personnel, and engineering teams. Ensure safe, reliable, and customer-focused service while responding to normal, degraded, and emergency operational conditions.

Maintain radio, data, SCADA, CAD/AVL, Transit CCTV, and other electronic communications with Operators, Supervisors, Maintenance personnel, technicians, and engineering staff to provide timely information and coordinate responses to technical or operational issues.

Use CAD/AVL, SCADA, vehicle monitoring systems, CCTV, and other control room technologies to monitor fleet health, identify equipment faults, analyze system alerts, and support timely troubleshooting and service recovery actions.

Receive, record, and manage technical fault reports using the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system. Ensure accurate documentation of reported defects, system alarms, and equipment issues while coordinating with maintenance and engineering teams to support timely resolution.

Respond immediately to system alarms, equipment failures, service disruptions, and operational incidents. Assess the situation and coordinate with Operations, field technicians, Maintenance, and Engineering personnel until normal service conditions are restored.

Act as the central coordination point between the Regional Operations Center, field supervisors, operators, technicians, and engineering teams during equipment failures, infrastructure issues, or service disruptions requiring technical troubleshooting and resolution.

Review operational logs, analyze system alerts and diagnostic information, and assist in identifying potential root causes of equipment failures, infrastructure faults, or operational anomalies affecting transit service.

Monitor real-time transit conditions including detours, station or stop closures, construction activities, special events, and travel time delays. Communicate service impacts to passengers through digital channels, passenger information systems, and operational communications.
