Position Summary
The Family Kitchen & Housekeeping Coordinator helps maintain a clean, welcoming, and well-stocked environment for families staying at FedExFamilyHouse, a nonprofit home-away-from-home for patients receiving care at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital. This hands-on position is responsible for maintaining kitchen and common-area cleanliness, monitoring and restocking kitchen supplies and basic food-service items, and ensuring spaces consistently meet established cleanliness and hospitality standards.

The position also provides regular interaction with families, visitors, volunteers, and staff and requires a friendly, professional demeanor and the ability to communicate clearly in English.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and appearance of family kitchen areas and designated common spaces.

• Perform routine housekeeping and cleaning duties, including wiping and sanitizing surfaces, cleaning appliances, floors, sinks, counters, and other high-use areas.

• Ensure kitchens and family spaces are consistently maintained according to established housekeeping, safety, sanitation, and organizational standards.

• Monitor inventory of kitchen supplies, paper products, cleaning supplies, beverages, and basic food-service items.

• Restock supplies and food-service items as needed and communicate inventory needs to appropriate staff.

• Assist with minimal food-service needs, such as maintaining beverage stations, organizing food items, and keeping shared food areas clean, orderly, and properly stocked.

• Monitor refrigerators, cabinets, and other shared food-storage areas and help maintain appropriate organization and cleanliness.

• Provide courteous and helpful service to families and guests using the facilities.

• Communicate professionally and clearly with families, visitors, volunteers, and staff.

• Report maintenance, supply, safety, or cleanliness concerns promptly.

• Follow all established safety, sanitation, housekeeping, and food-handling procedures.

• Support special events, family activities, or other needs of the House as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills

• Previous experience in housekeeping, hospitality, food service, facilities, or a related customer-service environment preferred.

• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English, both verbally and in writing.

• Comfortable interacting with the public, including families who may be experiencing stressful circumstances.

• Strong attention to cleanliness, organization, and detail.

• Dependable, responsible, and able to work independently.

• Ability to maintain inventory and recognize when supplies need to be replenished.

• Ability to perform physical tasks associated with cleaning, stocking, lifting, and maintaining kitchen and common areas.

• A warm, respectful, and service-oriented attitude is essential.
