Inpatient Registered Nurse (RN)

Bronson Methodist Hospital is hiring compassionate, skilled Registered Nurses to join our  inpatient teams. We offer  full-time, part-time, and PRN opportunities  with  12-hour shifts and weekend rotations , supporting nurses across a variety of care settings.

Units with Opportunities

• Surgery (OR): Work alongside expert surgical teams in a fast-paced environment featuring state-of-the-art technology and equipment. New to the OR? Our comprehensive internship provides the support needed to build confidence, develop expertise, and grow your career across a variety of surgical specialties.

• Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU): Care for critically ill adult patients in this 18-bed intensive care unit, treating complex conditions such as respiratory failure, cardiac events, sepsis, renal failure, and shock. MICU nurses develop advanced critical care skills while working closely with a multidisciplinary team in a high-acuity environment.

• Labor & Delivery (OB): Join a dynamic 23-bed Labor & Delivery unit caring for low- and high-risk patients throughout labor, childbirth, and the immediate postpartum period. Nurses gain experience across triage, labor, C-sections, recovery, and high-risk obstetric care.

• Emergency Department (ED): Make a difference on every shift at Kalamazoo County's only Level I Trauma Center. With 59 beds and dedicated trauma bays, ED nurses care for a diverse patient population while building expertise in emergency, trauma, and critical care nursing

• Neurological Critical Care Unit (NCCU): Provide specialized care for patients recovering from acute strokes, seizures, intracerebral hemorrhages, and neurosurgical procedures. This 12-bed critical care unit offers the opportunity to develop highly specialized neurocritical care skills in a collaborative team environment.

• Trauma/Burn Critical Care Unit (TCU/SICU):  The 20-bed Trauma/Burn/Surgical Intensive Care Unit specializes in the critical care needs of patients with traumatic injuries and burns, as well as post operative surgical patients requiring resuscitation in the intensive care unit.

• Adult Medical Unit (AMU): Care for a diverse adult population with a strong focus on geriatric medicine while building foundational medical-surgical nursing skills in a collaborative team environment.

• Cardiology Unit: Join a specialized cardiac care team providing comprehensive care for patients with acute and chronic heart conditions. Nurses gain experience in cardiac monitoring, progressive care, and patient education while helping patients achieve successful outcomes.

• Pediatric Unit (Peds):  Part of the Bronson Children’s Hospital, this 33-bed general pediatric unit (including a 4-bed stepdown unit) provides care for children between the ages of 0 and 18 with a variety of medical needs including, but not limited to, orthopedic, respiratory, oncology, trauma, surgical and medical. The Bronson Children’s Hospital incorporates art, music and pet therapy into our model of care.

• Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU):  On this 8-bed pediatric critical care unit, children receive care for a wide variety of medical and surgical diagnoses. The unit has all of the critical care therapies except ECMO. The PICU does not perform cardiac surgery or transplant surgeries.

• Extended Medical Care Unit (EMCU): Care for patients with complex medical and surgical conditions requiring extended hospitalizations. This unit offers the unique opportunity to build meaningful patient relationships and see the impact of your care throughout the recovery process.

• General Medical Unit (GMU): Work in a fast-paced stepdown unit caring for patients with oncology, pulmonary, renal, and other medical conditions. Gain experience with specialized treatments including dialysis, chemotherapy, and insulin infusions while developing a broad clinical skillset.

• General Surgery Unit (GSU): Care for patients recovering from general, vascular, thoracic, urological, gynecological, bariatric, and other surgical procedures. This high-volume unit offers a wide variety of patient experiences and opportunities to expand your surgical nursing knowledge.

• Neurovascular Unit (NVU): Provide specialized care for patients with stroke, epilepsy, neurological disorders, and post-operative spine surgeries. Nurses develop expertise in neuro assessment and care while working with a diverse patient population.

• Orthopedic Surgical Unit (OSU): Specialize in the care of orthopedic patients recovering from procedures such as joint replacements, fracture repairs, and other musculoskeletal surgeries. Help patients regain mobility and achieve successful recoveries.

• Adult Float Pool Med/Surg (AVIP M/S): Enjoy variety and flexibility while caring for patients across multiple medical-surgical units. Perfect for nurses looking to broaden their clinical experience and develop expertise across a wide range of specialties.

• Adult Float Pool Critical Care (AVIP CC): Build advanced critical care skills while providing support across multiple intensive care units. This role offers diverse experiences, continuous learning, and the opportunity to care for some of the hospital's most complex patient populations.

Under general supervision and in accordance with the policies, procedures and guidelines established within the organization, the unit, and the Michigan Public Health Code, the registered nurse manages the care delivery for patients in the organization throughout the length of stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge by the following: utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, diagnosing, implementation and evaluation; coordinating the care provided by other professionals; delegating selected acts, tasks or functions that fall within the scope of professional nursing practice and the abilities of patient care assistants and universal service assistants; providing selected aspects of physical care within the scope of professional nursing practice as appropriate given the patient's level of acuity and complexity of care required; and documenting and communicating during each tour of duty the patient's response to care provided, consumption of resources and anticipated needs. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.

Associate's degree in Nursing required

Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred, must obtain within 8 years of hire

Licensed Registered Nurse in good standing for the state of Michigan
