Roles and Responsibilities

Over your 12-month Placement  you'll   work in a  Finance  business environment gaining invaluable skills and experience. The opportunities available will cover all areas of finance from financial planning and analysis to order execution. You could be preparing key reports, analysing data, working on simplification projects, reviewing assets, or supporting the preparation of quarter end accounts.

We have   several   opportunities:

Finance   (Caledonian) - offers exposure across all areas of finance, from financial planning and analysis to order execution. You will support key activities such as preparing reports, analysing data, working on simplification projects, reviewing assets, and helping prepare quarter-end accounts. Day-to-day responsibilities include overhead cost management (approvals, spend analysis, accruals, variance reporting), overtime data submission, account analysis and reclasses, cost allocation, ad hoc finance tasks and projects, month-end close activities, and standard daily work.

On Wing Support Finance   (Wales) - managing indirect costs for the London, Doha, and Dubai sites, including approving and overseeing indirect budgets and invoice requests, and ensuring budgets finish on plan each month, quarter, and year. You are involved in cost-out initiatives and perform financial analysis to support decision-making by analysing data, preparing reports, and   identifying   trends. Daily activities include posting TL journal entries and reclassing costs, recharging invoices for materials and transport, processing IPS invoices, manipulating and compiling WIP reports for billing and trailing charges, posting direct labour approvals, and   consolidating   trial balance, stock,   sales   and margin.

Supply Chain Finance   (Cheltenham) - partner closely with Supply Chain and engage with the wider finance organisation to understand how finance   impacts   daily business operations and production. You will set up projects and resources in the ERP system, support the capital expenditure process (including asset tagging, reviewing capital requests and returns on investment, and periodic asset reviews), and perform part cost analysis to support Tollgate reviews. Your responsibilities will also include   month ‑ end   close analysis and reporting, finance audit test counts for stock take and cycle counting, running reports for Supply Chain hours and inventory transactions, and contributing to problem solving and continuous improvement projects related to capex and Supply Chain financial metrics.

Finance - FP&A Team  (Wales) - support a broad range of finance and business activities, gaining meaningful hands-on experience while adding value to the team. Their responsibilities would include supporting daily productivity reporting, providing finance support to operations teams,   assisting   with expenses, cost analysis, and cost management, contributing to continuous business improvement projects, completing the intern curriculum, and performing monthly reporting and analysis. This role offers strong exposure to day-to-day finance responsibilities and wider business operations, helping the student build technical capability, business understanding, and cross-functional experience.

You will be guided by structured goals and   objectives   and will have responsibility to deliver on inspiring projects supported by your People Leader and team around you. We will guide you throughout the year to ensure you make the best of your GE Aerospace experience. Your People Leader will offer coaching and mentoring, and you will be provided with the opportunity to connect with other placement students across the UK.

This opportunity is offered in our   Cardiff, Caledonian (Prestwick, Scotland),   and   Cheltenham   sites , during the process we will ask you to share your location preferences.

GE Aerospace Wales   specialises in the maintenance,   repair   and overhaul of a range of commercial jet engines. The facility, based in Nantgarw, just north of Cardiff, occupies over 1.2 million square feet of workshop space and has two   state-of-the-art   aircraft   engine test facilities, along with a significant repair capability – known as Component Repair Wales.

The site has the capability to provide maintenance,   repair   and overhaul services for a range of engine types – including the world’s most powerful commercial   aircraft   engine the GE90-115B and the world’s most popular commercial engine the CFM56 .

As one of the largest commercial   aircraft   engine maintenance facilities in the world, with annual sales of over $2bn, the business works with over 90 customers worldwide, including Emirates, TUI, Lufthansa, Delta, United, ANA and British Airways.

In 2017, the Wales site was selected as the Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility of choice for the GE9X; which will become the world’s largest and most fuel-efficient jet engine when it launches into service. The business will benefit from a £5m investment from the Welsh Government to support the total £20m investment put forward by the business, to equip and upskill the facility to be ready to maintain the GE9X fleet when it enters service on the new Boeing 777X aircraft.

GE Aerospace Caledonian   is a purpose-built   aircraft   engine overhaul facility,   adjacent to   Glasgow Prestwick International Airport. The Caledonian site was officially opened in 1980 and has since grown into a centre of excellence for Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) of CF6 &   GEnx   engine types. After each overhaul, the engines undergo intensive performance testing on site in our bespoke test cell, before returning to our global customer base ready for service.
