The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Responsibilities:

The Radiologic Technologist (RT) is an integral member of the multidisciplinary Pediatric Cardiac Catheterization and Electrophysiology (EP) Lab team, providing specialized procedural, imaging, scrub, and patient monitoring support for diagnostic and interventional procedures in pediatric and congenital heart disease patients.

The RT prepares the procedure room and sterile field, scrubs and directly assists physicians during cardiac catheterization and EP procedures, operates fluoroscopic imaging equipment, and performs physiologic patient monitoring from the control room. The RT prepares and handles specialized catheters, guidewires, sheaths, balloons, stents, implantable devices, and other procedural equipment while maintaining sterile technique and anticipating procedural needs.

Working collaboratively with interventional cardiologists, electrophysiologists, anesthesia providers, nurses, and other members of the multidisciplinary team, the RT supports procedures including diagnostic cardiac catheterization, angiography, angioplasty and valvuloplasty, stent and device placement, transcatheter valve procedures, electrophysiology studies, ablations, and other advanced congenital cardiac interventions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Prepares the Pediatric Cardiac Cath/EP Lab, sterile field, equipment, and procedure-specific supplies for diagnostic, interventional, and electrophysiology procedures.

• Scrubs and directly assists physicians during cardiac catheterization and EP procedures, including preparation and handling of guidewires, catheters, sheaths, balloons, stents, implantable devices, and other specialized cardiovascular equipment.

• Operates fluoroscopic and radiographic imaging systems, obtains appropriate imaging projections, and optimizes image quality while consistently applying ALARA and other radiation safety principles.

• Performs physiologic patient monitoring from the control room, observing and documenting patient data and procedural events and communicating significant changes to the procedural team.

• Demonstrates working knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, congenital heart disease, hemodynamics, pressure waveforms, ECG monitoring, and other physiologic information relevant to cardiac catheterization and EP procedures.

• Assists with patient positioning and maintains patient safety while protecting vascular access, airway equipment, invasive lines, and monitoring devices.

• Recognizes and responds appropriately to the unique physiologic, developmental, and safety needs of neonatal, infant, pediatric, adolescent, and congenital heart disease populations.

• Maintains accurate procedural and imaging documentation and ensures images and associated data are appropriately identified and transferred to applicable imaging and archival systems.

• Maintains specialized procedural equipment and supplies, assists with inventory management, and identifies and communicates equipment concerns.

• Maintains competency in sterile technique, infection prevention, radiation safety, and emergency response within the procedural environment.

• Collaborates effectively with physicians, anesthesia providers, nurses, technologists, and other team members to promote safe, efficient, high-quality patient care.

• Participates in orientation, continuing education, competency validation, quality improvement, equipment evaluation, and other departmental initiatives.

• Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology required

• 1 year of experience as a Radiologic Technologist preferred

• Previous experience in cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, interventional radiology, cardiovascular imaging, or another procedural imaging environment preferred but not required.

• Pediatric and/or congenital cardiac experience preferred but not required.

• Or equivalent combination of education and experience

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

• Maintains current NYS licensure required and

• ARRT Radiography Certification with CE credits upon hire required
