Position Overview:
The Business License Analyst is responsible for administering and maintaining mortgage licensing requirements for the company, its branches, and mortgage loan originators (MLOs). This role manages license applications, renewals, NMLS records, and regulatory filings while ensuring compliance with state, county, and local licensing requirements. The Business License Analyst supports branch expansion activities, employee licensing needs, and audit readiness by maintaining accurate records and coordinating with Human Resources, Compliance, and business leaders to ensure ongoing regulatory compliance.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare and submit new company, branch, and individual mortgage licensing applications.
- Manage license renewals through the Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS).
- Conduct business license research on the city and county levels.
- Ensure compliance with state-specific mortgage lending regulations.
- Track license expiration dates and regulatory deadlines; maintain company records within NMLS.
- Maintain accurate licensing records and documentation.
- Coordinate branch openings, relocations, acquisitions, and closures from a licensing perspective.
- Support internal and external audits related to licensing.
- Process mortgage loan originator (MLO) sponsorships and terminations.
- Assist loan officers with licensing and registration requirements for new and retention of current licenses.
- Partner with HR regarding licensing requirements for new hires and transfers.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, legal studies, or a related degree, preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in regulatory administration, mortgage licensing, or similar experience in the mortgage industry.
- Experience supporting regulatory examinations, preferred.
- Understanding of state mortgage lending laws.
- Excellent organization and project management skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines across numerous states.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Word.
