Job Description:

The HSE Advisor provides practical HSE support and leadership for contractor-delivered work at the Kwinana Energy Hub. The role has a strong field focus and works closely with bp and contractor leaders, supervisors and frontline teams.

This is an opportunity to influence how high-risk work is planned and performed. The role offers broad exposure across contractor operations and the opportunity to build strong capability in field leadership, assurance and Human Performance.

Job Responsibilities

• Apply Human Performance principles to build trust, encourage speaking up and improve how work is planned and performed

• Build effective relationships between bp and contractor teams, with clear expectations and accountability.

• Provide practical HSE advice and field support for contractor mobilisation, planning and work execution.

• Support risk assessments and readiness reviews, ensuring controls are appropriate for the work.

• Maintain a visible field presence to understand how work is performed and verify that critical controls are effective.

• Deliver risk-based assurance across activities including demolition, hazardous materials and waste management, confined spaces, and energy isolation.

• Coach and constructively challenge contractor teams to strengthen supervision, risk management and safe execution.

• Support incident investigations, regulatory compliance and organisational learning.

Job Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Science, Environmental Management or a related discipline.

• HSE experience in a high-hazard industry such as refining, oil and gas, chemicals, mining, construction, or major maintenance.

• Strong knowledge of Western Australian work health and safety legislation.

• Practical experience in contractor management, risk management, field assurance and incident investigation.

• Experience in occupational hygiene and hazardous-materials management.

• Strong communication, coaching and influencing skills, with a practical and collaborative approach.

• Experience with Human Performance and regulatory engagement would be advantageous.
