Job Description

Lead a Complex Manufacturing Operation and Shape Its Future

At Hitachi Energy, we are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to lead one of our key manufacturing operations. This role offers the opportunity to shape the performance of a highly integrated production environment of approximately 600 employees, covering machining, welding, surface coating, assembly, and electrical testing.

You will have end-to-end responsibility for the operational performance of the site, leading a large management team while driving safety, quality, productivity, delivery performance, and continuous improvement across the entire value chain. Working closely with cross-functional stakeholders, you will play a critical role in supporting business growth, operational scalability, and long-term competitiveness.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a technologically diverse manufacturing operation and make a visible impact on business performance. You will drive transformation initiatives, accelerate automation and digitalization efforts, optimize operational efficiency, and develop future leaders across the organization.

You'll join a business where decisions are made close to the operation, giving you the autonomy and influence to turn strategy into results. If you are passionate about building high-performing teams, leading change, and delivering operational excellence at scale, this role offers the platform to make a lasting impact.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop teams across Production Planning, Logistics & Warehousing, Material Management, Maintenance, and Industrial Engineering.
  • Drive a culture of safety, accountability, engagement, and operational excellence throughout the organization.
  • Oversee production planning and execution to ensure customer commitments are met while maximizing efficiency, productivity, and capacity utilization.
  • Manage manufacturing operations across machining, welding, coating, assembly, and electrical testing.
  • Ensure effective inventory management, warehousing, inbound and outbound logistics, and optimized material flow throughout the operation.
  • Develop and execute maintenance strategies focused on equipment reliability, operational continuity, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, automation, and digitalization initiatives to enhance business performance.
  • Support capacity planning, operational scaling, and the successful introduction of new products and technologies.
  • Build organizational capability through coaching, succession planning, leadership development, and talent management.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the business to achieve operational and strategic objectives while supporting future growth.

Your Background

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of leadership experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven success managing complex, high-volume operations with a broad product portfolio and a high degree of customization.
  • Experience leading multiple operational functions, including production, planning, logistics, maintenance, and industrial engineering.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management, inventory optimization, and material flow.
  • Demonstrated track record of improving productivity, quality, delivery performance, operational efficiency, and cost management.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and change management capabilities.
  • Fluent English.
  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence certification is an advantage.
  • Exposure to automation, digital transformation, and Industry 4.0 initiatives is highly desirable.
  • Experience leading large organizations within a multinational environment is considered a plus.

What We Offer

  • A people-focused culture built on collaboration, respect, trust, and finding meaningful solutions together.
  • Clear opportunities for personal and professional growth supported by structured career development programs.
  • The stability and strength of a global technology leader with its own engineering, manufacturing, and commercial operations.
  • The opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals while contributing to the development of future talent.
  • Five weeks of vacation.
  • Flexible working hours with a 7.5-hour working day.
  • Birthday leave.
  • Fully employer-funded meal vouchers.
  • Annual Cafeteria allowance.
  • Employer contribution to pension savings.
  • Discounted mobile plans for employees and their family members.
  • Long-service awards, retirement benefits, and additional perks provided under the collective agreement.
