The opportunity

Our Claims & Estates team supports the assessment and administration of deceased member accounts across Wrap and Super, alongside Permanent Incapacity, Terminal Illness and Financial Hardship claims.

The team also supports group insurance applications and amendments, group and retail insurance claims, insurer relationships and insurance product management.

We’re looking for an experienced Team Leader to lead this specialist team.

You’ll bring extensive hands-on Claims & Estates experience and use that expertise to coach your team, navigate complex and escalated cases, maintain strong technical and quality standards, and ensure we continue delivering accurate, timely and thoughtful outcomes for clients and advisers.

The role combines people leadership with hands-on superannuation and death claim technical expertise.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll lead the day-to-day delivery of the Claims & Estates team, creating an environment where people feel supported, accountable and confident in the decisions they make.

You’ll:

  • Lead, coach and develop your team, providing regular feedback, guidance and a strong day-to-day leadership presence.
  • Be a technical point of reference across superannuation, death claims, systems, controls and complex or high-risk matters.
  • Provide hands-on support with escalations and help your team work through technically complex cases.
  • Oversee workloads, queues and priorities to ensure service commitments and quality standards are met.
  • Balance customer outcomes, accuracy, turnaround times, operational risk and compliance in a highly regulated environment.
  • Identify inefficiencies, risks and opportunities to improve processes, workflows and ways of working.
  • Support the implementation of operational and system changes and help your team successfully embed them.
  • Identify and appropriately escalate incidents, breaches and control issues.
  • Partner with your Manager and internal stakeholders to solve problems and deliver strong operational outcomes.

The experience we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who already understands the complexities of this environment and can bring genuine technical credibility to the team.

You'll bring:

  • Extensive experience in Claims & Estates is essential.
  • Demonstrated, hands-on experience within superannuation or financial services.
  • Strong technical knowledge of death benefit and insurance claim processes, systems and controls.
  • Experience leading or supporting a team within an operational environment.
  • The ability to coach team members through technical matters, complex cases and quality standards.
  • A sound understanding of regulatory, compliance and operational risk requirements, including superannuation legislation, AML/CTF, CDD and privacy requirements relevant to Claims & Estates.
  • Strong judgement, organisation, communication and problem-solving capability.
  • The ability to balance service delivery with quality, risk and customer outcomes.
  • RG146 compliance is required.
  • A tertiary qualification in Business, Finance or a related discipline would be advantageous.

We specifically need someone with established Claims & Estates experience who understands death benefit and insurance claims and can confidently provide technical leadership from day one.

If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

What success looks like

You’ll build a team that is connected, supported and technically confident. Service and quality standards are consistently met, complex matters are increasingly resolved within the team, operational changes land smoothly, and you’re known as a reliable leader who can balance people, customers, risk and delivery
