The role

Prism is SoFi's in-house AI platform for employee productivity: SoFi's custom harness for getting everyday work done with AI. Its purpose is to turn employee work into reusable company capability by capturing SoFi's business context, codifying successful ways of working into tested Expert agents, skills, and tools, and connecting usage to quality, cost, and outcomes so every improvement builds on what SoFi has already learned.

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Prism engineering organization and deliver this multi-year vision—from Open Beta and GA through our path of proving repeatability and compounding reuse across all business functions. In this role, you will lead engineering teams, partner closely with Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) and the AI Champion Network, and collaborate with executive stakeholders across SoFi to scale the platform our employees rely on every day.

What you’ll do

-

Lead and Scale the Prism Organization: Hire, coach, and retain a high-performing engineering division; develop managers and senior individual contributors, establish team rituals, and cultivate an inclusive, high-velocity engineering operating model.

-

Own the Operational and Technical Roadmap: Deliver the Open Beta and GA roadmaps; establish departmental outcome baselines, production controls, and enterprise-wide SLAs; sequence complex engineering initiatives around verified business outcomes.

-

Build SoFi's Custom Productivity Harness: Oversee architecture and delivery across the chat experience, enterprise tool connectors, autonomous Experts, specialized skills, web artifacts, and scheduled routines deployed across all employee touchpoints.

-

Build the Learning Loop & Feedback Engine: Transform permitted usage signals, human corrections, and domain-specific workflows into continuous evaluations, automated quality rules, and reusable skills under strict enterprise governance.

-

Drive Inner-sourcing and Compounding Reuse: Establish low-friction contribution pathways (innersourcing, away teams, standardized feature requests) enabling engineering and product groups across SoFi to extend Prism rather than building siloed tools.

-

Strategic Cross-Functional Partnership: Align closely with Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) and the AI Champion Network to operationalize priority workflows into tested Experts, establish shared KPIs, and govern enterprise rollouts.

-

Engage Executive Stakeholders: Partner with business leaders and workflow owners across Finance, Operations, Risk, and Marketing to prioritize departmental initiatives and validate tangible efficiency gains.

-

Architect on the Shared Agent Platform: Partner with core AI Platform infrastructure teams across model gateways, context/memory management, agent tooling, observability, and identity governance to ensure architectural consistency across the firm.

-

Manage Platform Economics and Quality: Establish cost-per-successful-outcome metrics, maintain model-agnostic provider abstractions, and conduct evidence-based build-vs-buy evaluations.

-

Uphold Responsible Governance: Partner with Information Security, Compliance, and Enterprise Risk to ensure all Prism systems comply with strict financial institution standards, including auditability, granular access permissions, and data retention rules.

What you’ll need:

-

Education & Minimum Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree + 4+ Years of Experience OR Master’s Degree + 3+ Years of Experience in software engineering, computer science, or a related field.

-

Proven track record leading software engineering teams and managing other managers or senior technical contributors in shipping and operating enterprise-scale production platforms.

-

Demonstrated success taking internal platforms or productivity systems from early development to scaled General Availability (GA) with measurable adoption.

-

In-depth technical familiarity with LLM-based architectures : multi-agent frameworks, tool invocation, context/retrieval systems (RAG), programmatic evaluation, and latency/cost trade-offs.

-

Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, influence departmental leaders without direct authority, and comfortably navigate shifting priorities.

-

Exceptional technical depth with the ability to lead architecture reviews, evaluate system designs, and set technical quality standards across teams .

-

Proven executive presence and communication skills, with extensive experience presenting strategic trade-offs, architecture, and business metrics to executive leadership.

Nice to have:

-

Experience in fintech or within another highly regulated industry environment.

-

Experience architecting extensible platforms, public/internal developer ecosystems, or multi-tenant agent systems.

-

Experience collaborating with forward-deployed engineering, field engineering, or solutions architecture teams.

-

Hands-on experience developing programmatic evaluation benchmarks and outcome-based unit economics for generative AI applications.
