About Lucid

At Lucid, we are creating exceptional mobility experiences through innovation to drive the world forward. Built on Lucid’s proprietary technology and software-defined vehicle architecture, our award-winning vehicles bring our “Compromise Nothing™” approach to the global automotive market. That means refusing to choose between performance and sustainability, design and engineering, ambition and integrity. In Lucid Air and Lucid Gravity, we have designed and built vehicles that have redefined their segments, combining exceptional range, performance, design, and expansive space in a single experience.

We achieve this through deep vertical integration, with design, engineering, and production happening in-house across our global offices and manufacturing facilities. Our teams come from industries around the world, united by a shared commitment to excellence. By refusing to settle, you can help redefine what’s possible and shape the future of mobility.

At Lucid, safety is foundational to the development and deployment of automated driving technologies. Our Primary Safety Homologation team is responsible for ensuring that autonomous driving systems are supported by robust safety arguments, evidence-based decision making, and effective engagement with regulators and technical assessment bodies worldwide.

We are seeking a Technical Specialist or Senior Homologation Engineer, ADS Safety Assurance and Regulatory Strategy to play a key role in evaluating, challenging, and strengthening the safety case for Level 3 and Level 4 Automated Driving Systems (ADS). This position requires a highly motivated individual with expertise in safety engineering, regulatory compliance, functional safety, and autonomous vehicle technologies.

The successful candidate will work across engineering, safety, validation, legal, policy, and product development teams to help ensure that Lucid's ADS products are supported by defensible, audit-ready safety arguments suitable for regulatory assessment, deployment approvals, and commercialization. This role provides a unique opportunity to influence the future of autonomous vehicle safety while engaging with a broad range of engineering disciplines and external stakeholders.

About the Role

Reporting to the Primary Safety Homologation Manager, you will be responsible for independently reviewing and assessing ADS safety cases, supporting the development of defensible safety arguments, and representing Lucid in technical engagements with regulators, governmental agencies, technical services, and approval authorities worldwide. T he ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of safety case methodologies, Functional Safety (ISO 26262), SOTIF (ISO 21448), Safety Management Systems (SMS), and emerging global regulatory frameworks for automated driving systems. This individual will help ensure that safety evidence, organizational processes, and governance structures collectively support the safe deployment and regulatory acceptance of ADS technologies.

What You Own

ADS Safety Assurance and Safety Case Review and Evidence Management

  • Lead independent technical review and assessment of ADS safety cases for Level 3 and Level 4 automated driving systems.
  • Collaborate with safety case developers, system engineers, and cross functional engineering teams to strengthen safety arguments and identify gaps, assumptions, weaknesses, or areas requiring additional validation.
  • Ensure safety claims are supported by objective, traceable, and defensible evidence generated from simulation, software verification, closed-course testing, real-world testing, operational experience, and field performance data.
  • Challenge and validate the completeness, consistency, technical rigor, and regulatory adequacy of safety arguments prior to internal approval and external submission.
  • Coordinate the collection, review, and integration of safety evidence across systems engineering, validation, Functional Safety, SOTIF, cybersecurity, and operational safety teams.
  • Establish and maintain an effective framework for evidence traceability, configuration management, document control, and lifecycle management of safety artifacts.
  • Review the impact of software updates, hardware modifications, feature enhancements, operational changes, and ODD expansions on the validity of the safety case throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Drive closure of safety case findings and recommendations through cross-functional collaboration.
  • Develop and improve safety assurance methodologies, review processes, templates, and best practices that enable consistent and repeatable safety assessments.
  • Ensure safety artifacts, supporting evidence, and safety arguments remain audit-ready and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations and industry best practices.

Regulatory Strategy and Authority Engagement

  • Serve as Lucid’s safety assurance technical representative in discussions with regulatory agencies, approval authorities, technical services, and governmental organizations worldwide.
  • Develop strategies for demonstrating safety and achieving regulatory acceptance of ADS technologies across global markets.
  • Prepare and present safety case materials for regulatory submissions, technical reviews, audits, governmental assessments, and approval processes.
  • Lead technical discussions regarding safety performance, risk management strategies, validation approaches, and supporting safety evidence.
  • Respond to technical questions, review comments, and regulatory feedback using rigorous engineering data and structured safety arguments.
  • Monitor and assess emerging ADS regulations, guidance documents, and industry best practices, translating them into actionable engineering and compliance requirements.
  • Support development of regulatory positions and technical responses related to autonomous vehicle deployment and safety demonstrations.

Functional Safety and SOTIF Assurance

  • Support Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and SOTIF (ISO 21448) assurance activities across Lucid's portfolio of safety-critical systems.
  • Review Functional Safety and SOTIF work products to ensure they effectively support broader safety assurance objectives and regulatory expectations.
  • Support safety assessments and audit readiness for foundational electronically controlled vehicle systems, including braking, steering, propulsion, power distribution, and other safety-related vehicle controls.
  • Support safety assurance activities for advanced driver assistance systems, including features such as Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Emergency Lane Keeping Systems (ELKS) and other active safety technologies.
  • Support Functional Safety and SOTIF reviews for Level 2, Level 2+, and Level 2++ driving automation features and their associated system architectures.
  • Collaborate with Functional Safety, SOTIF, Systems Engineering, Validation, Active Safety, and ADS development teams to ensure safety artifacts are complete, traceable, technically sound, and audit-ready.

Audit and Assessment Readiness

  • Support internal, external, regulatory, and third-party audits related to ADS safety, Functional Safety, SOTIF, Safety Management Systems, and organizational safety processes.
  • Coordinate preparation of technical evidence packages, presentations, responses, and supporting documentation for assessments and audits.
  • Ensure safety case documentation, governance processes, and supporting records remain inspection-ready throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support closure of audit findings, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
