Data Product Analyst

Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Data Product Analyst to help transform business needs into trusted, usable data products that power reporting, analytics, and better business decisions. In this role, you’ll help bridge the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring data products are thoughtfully designed, well-documented, and built to solve real business problems.

You’ll have the opportunity to contribute throughout the data product lifecycle, from discovery and requirements gathering to testing, documentation, and ongoing improvement. If you’re curious about data, enjoy solving problems, and like bringing people together to turn ideas into action, this is an opportunity to build your expertise while making a meaningful impact.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Translate Business Needs into Actionable Requirements: Partner with business stakeholders to understand their goals, reporting needs, workflows, and data challenges. Document requirements and translate discovery findings into clear user stories, development tickets, and acceptance criteria.
  • Support Data Product Design and Development: Collaborate with Data Product leads, reporting teams, and data engineers to define data needs, business rules, definitions, dependencies, and expected outcomes.
  • Build Trusted Product Documentation: Write and maintain product requirements documents (PRDs), data contracts, business definitions, and usage guidance. Partner with Data Governance and engineering teams to document data structures, quality expectations, ownership, and refresh requirements.
  • Validate Data Products and Deliver Quality: Use basic SQL and reporting tools to explore data, investigate discrepancies, and validate results. Prepare and execute user acceptance testing (UAT), coordinate business participation, document defects, and confirm fixes meet acceptance criteria.
  • Strengthen Stakeholder Alignment: Communicate requirements, proposed designs, testing results, and product demonstrations to technical and business audiences. Keep partners informed of open questions, issues, and progress.
  • Identify Opportunities for Improvement: Monitor product usage, performance, and user feedback to identify issues and opportunities to make data products more accurate, accessible, and useful.

Who You’ll Work With

You’ll work closely with Reporting, Data Governance, and Data Product leads, business stakeholders, analysts, and data engineers to bring data products from discovery through delivery. This is a collaborative, cross-functional role where you’ll help connect business priorities with technical execution, build shared understanding, and ensure the products we deliver are trusted and useful. You’ll also have the opportunity to learn from experienced partners as you deepen your understanding of our data ecosystem and product practices.

What You’ll Bring

  • A college degree.
  • At least two years of experience working alongside data or analytics teams in a business, analytical, technical, or product support capacity.
  • Basic SQL skills, including the ability to query, filter, join, and summarize data.
  • Experience working with databases or reporting and business intelligence tools.
  • Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into clear, organized documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain data concepts to business audiences and communicate business needs to technical teams.
  • A collaborative approach to working with stakeholders, analysts, and data engineers.
  • Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to organize work and follow through on open items.

What Will Help You Thrive

  • Hands-on experience in analytics, business intelligence, or data engineering.
  • Experience writing user stories, development tickets, acceptance criteria, or product requirements documents.
  • Experience supporting user acceptance testing or validating reports, datasets, or data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with data governance concepts, including data quality, business definitions, ownership, lineage, and data contracts.
  • Experience using tools for project tracking, documentation, or data cataloging.
  • Curiosity about how data products are designed, developed, governed, and used to solve business problems.
  • Comfort using AI tools to support discovery, requirements gathering, data product design, prototyping, and documentation, while validating outputs for accuracy and ensuring responsible data use.
  • Experience designing or building AI agent workflows and automations to streamline tasks, connect tools or data sources, and support business processes.
  • A proactive mindset, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to navigate open questions and evolving requirements.

What Success Looks Like

  • Business needs are clearly captured and translated into actionable requirements, user stories, and development tickets.
  • Data products are well-documented, with clear definitions, ownership, usage guidance, and quality expectations that help business users understand and trust the data.
  • Testing identifies issues early, discrepancies are resolved collaboratively, and delivered products meet agreed-upon acceptance criteria.
  • Business and technical partners stay aligned through clear communication, thoughtful collaboration, and timely follow-through.
  • Product usage and stakeholder feedback inform improvements that make data products more valuable, accessible, and effective.
