Ready to help shape the future of a beautiful country pub?

Are you an ambitious Assistant Manager who loves creating memorable guest experiences, developing a great team and making a real difference to a pub's success? The Queen's Head in Burley is looking for someone passionate about hospitality who wants to be part of an exciting new chapter.

Following investment in June, we're looking for an Assistant Manager who can help build on this fresh start, grow the business and bring new ideas to life. With plans to introduce events from next year, there's a fantastic opportunity to get involved, make your mark and help establish The Queen's Head as a must-visit destination in the local community.

Why join The Queen's Head?

This is more than an Assistant Manager role; it's an opportunity to help develop a recently invested pub and play a key part in its future success.

With the foundations in place and plans to introduce events from next year, you'll have the chance to bring fresh ideas, build relationships within the community and help create a destination guests want to return to time and again.

If you're looking for a role where you can grow your career while making a genuine impact, The Queen's Head could be the perfect fit.

What's the opportunity?

Nestled in the picturesque village of Burley, The Queen's Head is a charming country pub with a rich history dating back to 1685, when it began life as a blacksmith's forge. Today, it combines traditional character and cosy surroundings with the modern comforts guests expect.

From hearty Sunday roasts and perfectly cooked steaks to local cask ales, quality wines and premium spirits, we're all about great food, great drinks and a warm welcome. With a welcoming beer garden, a cosy fireplace and a family- and dog-friendly atmosphere, there's plenty to make guests feel at home.

As Assistant Manager, you'll work closely with the General Manager to drive standards, support your team and make the most of the opportunities ahead.

You'll be responsible for

-

Leading from the front: Support the day-to-day running of the pub, setting high standards and leading by example.

- Creating memorable experiences: Make sure every guest receives a warm welcome and enjoys outstanding food, drink and service.

- Developing your team: Coach, motivate and support colleagues, helping them grow in confidence and deliver their best.

- Driving business performance: Identify opportunities to increase sales, improve profitability and build a loyal customer base.

- Bringing new ideas to life: Help develop and deliver events planned for next year, creating reasons for guests to visit and return.

- Maintaining high standards: Ensure the pub is safe, clean, welcoming and compliant, with a strong focus on service and operational excellence.

- Supporting the General Manager: Work together to achieve business goals, strengthen team performance and make the most of the recent investment.

What we're looking for

We're looking for an enthusiastic and driven Assistant Manager with previous hospitality management experience, who is ready to take ownership and help a business grow.

You'll bring:

- Experience supervising or managing a team in a pub, restaurant or hospitality environment.

- A genuine passion for great customer service and creating memorable guest experiences.

- The confidence to lead from the front in a busy, hands-on role.

- Strong people skills, with the ability to coach, motivate and develop a team.

- Commercial awareness and an understanding of how to drive sales and control costs.

- Excellent organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities.

- A proactive, creative approach, with enthusiasm for helping develop events and grow the pub's reputation.

You'll be someone who enjoys being part of the local community, takes pride in their surroundings and is excited by the opportunity to help shape the next chapter of a much-loved country pub.

Personal Licence: As this role may involve covering the business in the General Manager's absence, you'll need to be eligible to hold a Personal Licence. You don't need to have one when you apply. If you're successful, Greene King will support you through the process of obtaining your licence.
