Position Overview

The Project Management Office (PMO) is a critical function of the Cross Carline & Project Engineering organization, providing program-level oversight of processes, performance metrics, and cross-functional deliverables to achieve vehicle quality, timing, technical, and cost objectives.

The PMO Quality Specialist is responsible for supporting the integration, monitoring, and continuous improvement of quality-related activities throughout the vehicle program lifecycle. Working in support of the Platform and Project Planning Manager, this position analyzes program quality performance, evaluates risks to key deliverables, monitors corrective-action effectiveness, and develops recommendations to support the achievement of established quality objectives.

The role serves as a key interface between vehicle program teams, engineering, manufacturing, quality organizations, and other cross-functional stakeholders. The specialist evaluates quality metrics, identifies trends and potential program impacts, assesses readiness against established milestones, and provides analytical insights to support program governance, issue resolution, and management decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Integrate quality deliverables, assessments, and milestones into overall vehicle program timing plans. Evaluate alignment with product development requirements, identify potential gaps, and recommend actions to maintain program quality objectives.
  • Analyze program quality metrics, performance indicators, validation results, and issue trends to identify risks to vehicle quality targets. Evaluate deviations from established objectives and develop recommendations to address emerging concerns.
  • Monitor quality issues, corrective-action plans, and open technical concerns across cross-functional teams. Assess action status, identify recurring issues and unresolved risks, and evaluate progress toward resolution and closure within established program timelines.
  • Evaluate quality-related risks associated with product development, engineering validation, vehicle builds, and launch readiness. Assess potential impacts to program milestones and deliverables, prioritize issues based on program risk, and recommend mitigation strategies for management consideration.
  • Prepare and lead quality-related inputs for Program Management Team (PMT) meetings, Program Reviews, and governance forums. Consolidate cross-functional quality assessments, communicate significant risks and performance gaps, and develop recommendations to support timely management decisions.
  • Monitor quality deliverables associated with engineering validation, prototype builds, and vehicle development phases. Evaluate completion status against program requirements, identify gaps in validation readiness, and coordinate resolution plans with responsible functional teams.
  • Partner with engineering, manufacturing, supplier quality, purchasing, and program management stakeholders to maintain alignment on quality objectives and deliverables. Facilitate resolution of cross-functional quality concerns and recommend escalation when issues threaten program quality, timing, or launch targets.
  • Quality Data & Trend Analysis: Analyze complex datasets related to quality performance, validation outcomes, issue closure, and program execution. Identify recurring patterns, performance trends, and opportunities for improvement; translate findings into actionable recommendations for program leadership.
  • Program Change & Impact Assessment: Evaluate product changes, program bulletins, and engineering action requests for potential implications to quality deliverables, validation requirements, and program milestones. Coordinate cross-functional assessments and communicate identified risks and recommended actions.
  • Launch Quality Readiness: Monitor quality-related launch deliverables and readiness milestones in coordination with engineering, plant, supplier, and program teams. Identify outstanding quality concerns, assess their potential impact on launch execution, and support the development of mitigation plans.
  • Quality Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve quality reporting, issue-tracking processes, program governance, and performance-monitoring methods. Recommend improvements that strengthen visibility into program risks, accountability for corrective actions, and alignment with established quality processes.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, Business, or a related discipline from an ABET-accredited university, where applicable; equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of two years of automotive industry experience at an OEM or major Tier 1 supplier in quality engineering, product development, program management, manufacturing, validation, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to evaluate performance data, identify risks, and develop recommendations.
  • Understanding of automotive product development, quality planning, issue resolution, and corrective-action processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to communicate quality concerns and recommendations to stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Excellent written communication and presentation skills.
  • Advanced to expert proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, including data analysis, trend evaluation, and management reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, evaluate competing program requirements, and independently assess issues within established processes and responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting quality activities throughout the full automotive product development lifecycle.
  • Understanding of the client's Product Development Process (PDP) and program quality deliverables.
  • Experience with vehicle validation, prototype builds, launch readiness, or manufacturing quality.
  • Familiarity with automotive quality tools and methodologies, such as root cause analysis, 8D, FMEA, corrective-action tracking, and quality performance metrics.
  • Experience with program management, quality tracking, or issue-management systems.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities in data manipulation, trend analysis, performance monitoring, and risk assessment.
