Senior Civil Engineer
Senior Civil Engineer
Leading civil engineering delivery for PRI’s Ontario practice
LOCATION: Mississauga & Toronto, ON (travel to project and client sites across the GTA)
Full-time, permanent
About the opportunity
PRI is a multidisciplinary engineering and environmental consulting firm with offices across British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario and Nova Scotia. We are seeking an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead civil engineering project delivery for our Ontario practice, based out of our Mississauga or Toronto offices.
This is a senior role for a civil engineer who is as comfortable sealing a set of engineering drawings as they are liaising with a municipal reviewer, mentoring an EIT, or presenting to a client. You will report directly to the Practice Lead, Civil Engineering and work in close collaboration with other practice leads to strengthen technical excellence, project delivery, and disciplined growth.
PRI’s civil engineering team delivers site servicing, stormwater management, and municipal infrastructure design in support of land development, municipal, and private-sector projects. Our team works closely with municipalities, provincial agencies, land developers, and multidisciplinary project teams throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
Who this role is for
You are a expierenced civil engineer who thinks like both a technical reviewer and a project lead: someone who can take a servicing or site plan file from concept through construction, hold their own in front of a municipal reviewer or client, and still make time to mentor an EIT. You are equally comfortable checking a set of drawings as you are tracking a project budget and schedule, and you take genuine satisfaction in doing work that holds up to scrutiny.
What you’ll do
Project & technical delivery
- Lead the design and delivery of civil infrastructure projects, including site servicing, stormwater management, and municipal infrastructure across the GTA.
- Own technical review and professional sign-off on engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports.
- Direct site servicing design: grading, storm and sanitary servicing, water distribution, and erosion and sediment control.
- Manage project scope, schedule, and budget, and take ownership of outcomes from proposal through close-out.
- Coordinate resources across internal teams and external subconsultants on multidisciplinary projects.
Client & regulatory engagement
- Lead municipal approvals and liaise directly with Peel Region, the City of Toronto, the City of Mississauga, and neighbouring GTA municipalities throughout the permitting process.
- Prepare and review stormwater management plans and reports in accordance with MECP and municipal guidelines.
- Coordinate servicing and grading design with land development and building permit approvals processes.
- Ensure all work aligns with applicable municipal and provincial standards, including the Ontario Building Code and OPSS/OPSD.
People & team development
- Mentor engineers, EITs, and technologists, and support them toward P.Eng. registration with PEO.
- Manage utilization and workload planning on civil projects and support recruitment for the Ontario civil team.
- Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team culture.
Business development & strategy
- Support business development and proposal preparation for municipal and land development clients across the GTA.
- Contribute to strategic planning for the civil engineering practice in alignment with PRI’s broader growth objectives.
- Champion current civil design software, including AutoCAD Civil 3D, while safeguarding sound engineering judgment.
Who we’re looking for
Required

- Strong working knowledge of municipal design standards and the Ontario Building Code.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects with competing priorities.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and strong technical writing skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical content to diverse audiences.
- A valid Ontario driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites and client offices across the GTA.
Preferred
- Established client relationships with municipalities or land developers in the GTA.
- Experience with municipal approvals processes in Peel Region, the City of Toronto, or neighbouring GTA municipalities.
- Experience mentoring EITs or supporting a team’s path toward licensure.
- Experience with stormwater management modelling tools, such as PCSWMM or SWMM.
- Multi-jurisdictional experience across Ontario municipalities.
