TerraPower is a nuclear technology company based in Bellevue, Washington. At its core, the company is working to raise living standards globally through a more affordable, secure, and environmentally friendly form of nuclear energy along with innovations in medical isotopes to improve human health. In 2006, TerraPower originated with Bill Gates and a group of like-minded visionaries who evaluated the fundamental challenges to raising living standards around the world. They recognized energy access was crucial to the health and economic well-being of communities and decided that the private sector needed to take action and create energy sources that would advance global energy deployment. TerraPower’s mission is to be a world leader in new nuclear technologies, while developing innovators and future leaders in the nuclear field. As a result, the company’s activities in the fields of nuclear energy and related sciences are yielding significant innovations in the safety and economics of nuclear power, hybrid energy and medical applications – all for significant human health benefits.

TerraPower is seeking to hire highly motivated and forward-thinking professionals who are interested in focusing on advanced nuclear reactor research and development and influencing change within the nuclear power landscape and bringing forward the critical production of medical isotopes. TerraPower is an Equal Opportunity Employer. Senior Project Engineer,  EPC Digital Solutions Integration

TerraPower, LLC is seeking to hire a highly motivated Senior Project Engineer to provide project management support for Digital Solutions Integration for EPC delivery in support of the Natrium team.

The Senior Project Engineer, Digital Solutions Integration is responsible for providing project management for the integrated delivery of the plant 3D model, Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools, and the centralized data environment, and for coordinating the integration of these systems with EDMS/CMIS and new suppliers. This role serves as the single point of contact for project management and interface coordination across engineering, IT, and external partners, establishing schedules, tracking deliverables, resolving cross-team dependencies, and ensuring that digital work products are delivered on time and in compliance with nuclear quality and configuration management requirements. Working in support of the team that owns the CAE tools and centralized data environment, this is primarily a project management and coordination role. Hands-on work with the tools may be possible, but it is not the primary focus of the position. The role will take over day-to-day project management and interface coordination currently carried out on a part-time basis by technical leads, enabling those leads to focus on technical execution.

Responsibilities

Integrated Digital Delivery

  • Coordinate and track end-to-end integrated delivery of the 3D plant model, CAE tools, and centralized data environment, aligning scope, schedule, and dependencies across workstreams.
  • Develop and maintain the integrated digital delivery plan, including milestones, deliverables, resource needs, risks, and issues.
  • Provide regular status reporting and escalate risks and decisions to engineering and project leadership.

3D Model and CAE Coordination

  • Coordinate delivery of the 3D plant model across engineering disciplines, ensuring model content, release milestones, and data requirements are met.
  • Work with technical leads and system administrators to schedule and track software upgrades, configuration changes, and environment readiness.

Centralized BIM Data Environment

  • Plan, coordinate, and track the implementation and rollout of the centralized BIM data environment, including data structure, ownership, access, and exchange requirements.
  • Facilitate the definition and tracking of data governance, naming, and metadata standards in coordination with engineering, document control, and configuration management.
  • Coordinate data migration, validation, and ongoing synchronization between source systems and the centralized environment.

Project Management and Interface Control

  • Facilitate recurring coordination meetings, drive actions to closure, and ensure clear communication of priorities and dependencies.
  • Manage scope changes, budget inputs, and purchase or contract support related to digital solutions and supplier tools.
  • Partner with the team responsible for the CAE tools and centralized data environment to translate priorities into schedules, remove blockers, and keep stakeholders informed; hands-on tool support is secondary to the project management role.

Quality and Configuration Management

  • Ensure digital deliverables and processes comply with nuclear quality assurance requirements, including ASME NQA-1.
  • Ensure system configurations, data releases, and changes are documented in alignment with Configuration Management Information System (CMIS) processes.

Key Qualifications and Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field or equivalent experience.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, including at least 5 years leading or managing multi-party technical projects, preferably in an EPC (Engineering/Procurement/Construction) or AE (Architect/Engineer) environment.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or supporting the delivery of 3D plant design models and associated engineering data, preferably with Intergraph Smart 3D or similar applications such as AVEVA E3D or AutoCAD Plant 3D.
  • Experience managing or supporting the implementation of a centralized or common data environment across multiple systems and organizations.
  • Experience coordinating technical interfaces with external partners and suppliers, including defining deliverables and tracking performance.
  • Experience in Software Quality Assurance

Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) tools and their integration with plant design, PLM, BIM, and other enterprise systems. Hands-on tool experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Strong project management skills, including scheduling, risk management, and status reporting; PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Understanding of data exchange concepts such as APIs, data mapping, and metadata management.
  • Knowledge of nuclear quality assurance standards or other applicable standards (e.g., ASME NQA-1, 10 CFR Part 50, ISO 19443).
  • Past Systems Engineering experience is preferred.

Soft Skills and Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong ownership, follow-through, and ability to drive progress across teams without direct authority.
  • Effective written and verbal communication and collaboration skills across multidisciplinary teams and external organizations.
  • Experience in the nuclear industry or other highly regulated sectors (e.g., aerospace, pharmaceutical, defense).
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools, procurement software, or digital twin platforms.
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles for data systems in critical infrastructure.

This position is subject to qualification requirements in accordance with ANSI/ANS 3.1. Candidates must meet the minimum education and experience criteria applicable to the role, including relevant nuclear industry experience where required. Verification of data will be part of the hiring process.
