About the Role:

A Senior SDE at Razorpay is well-grounded - smart, quality-focused, product-thinking, and business-conscious. Not a mere coder. You bring strong technical context and the experience to build software that matters at scale. Engineering at Razorpay creates significant impact across the payments ecosystem. You are expected to influence the culture of the company - bring conviction, challenge the status quo, set the bar, and help the team grow. We are looking for engineers who are current - not just technically strong, but actively working in AI-augmented workflows. At Razorpay, AI is not a feature we are building toward - it is part of how we build today.

What You Will Build

• Scale Razorpay's payment infrastructure to get every Indian to pay online

• Shape REST APIs used by developers worldwide

• Contribute to open source and set standards for mobile payments

• Drive product and design discussions - not just implement them

• Brainstorm and create new directions in Razorpay's quest to make online payments easy and accessible to all

What We Are Looking For

• 3+ years of experience in technology

• Strong product design sense - you think about the user, not just the implementation

• Proficiency in any of: PHP, Python, Django, Golang, Java, or C++

• Ability to understand end-user requirements, formulate use cases, and arrive at effective solutions

• Good understanding of REST APIs and the web in general

• Ability to build a feature from scratch and drive it to completion independently

• Willingness to learn new technology - whatever lets you deliver the best product

• Clean, well-structured code as a default - with awareness of performance and time complexity trade-offs

AI fluency we expect:

• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants - you use them actively, not occasionally

• Ability to decompose problems into structured, constrained prompts with clear expected outcomes

• Critical review mindset - you own every line of AI-generated code, spot hallucinations, incorrect assumptions, and security gaps

• Strong LLD depth before agent use - you design first, delegate second

• Awareness of where AI helps and where it fails - and the judgment to know the difference

• Weekend side projects or contributions to open source on GitHub

• Prior experience at a product company

• Hands-on experience building with LLMs or agentic frameworks

• Working knowledge of a backend programming language beyond your primary stack

• Experience designing systems for scalability, reliability, and fault tolerance
