Senior Software Developer

Job Description
Company
Leonardo is a Toronto-based hospitality technology company and a trusted content management and distribution partner to hotels, hotel brands, management companies, and travel channels around the world. For more than 25 years, we have helped the travel industry centralize, manage, enrich, and distribute accurate, brand-approved visual and textual content across direct and indirect channels. Our solutions—including the LUCID platform, content feeds, listing-audit tools, hotel websites, and digital marketing services—help customers improve content quality and consistency, reduce manual effort and distribution errors, and turn better hotel content into stronger traveler experiences and more bookings. Leonardo is part of Jonas Hospitality, a family of technology companies serving the global hospitality industry.
We develop technology by starting with the real-world problem and the outcome our customers need. We work on what is worth working on—not technology for technology’s sake—and design each solution with the capabilities required to solve that problem effectively: no more, no less. This intentional simplicity keeps our products practical, reliable, secure, and easier to use and support, while allowing them to evolve as customer needs and the hospitality industry change.
Position
The primary focus of this role is the design, development, and support of customer-facing and internal business applications, with secondary responsibilities in architecture, integrations, operational excellence, and AI-enabled delivery. This is a hands-on senior individual contributor role with significant technical leadership responsibilities.
The Senior Software Developer is responsible for designing, developing, securing, and supporting full-stack business applications using Microsoft technology, including C#, .NET, Visual Studio, SQL Server, and Blazor. The role spans front-end experiences, back-end services, databases, integrations, and data workflows, with a customer-centric approach.
Working closely with product, development, quality, and operations teams, the Senior Software Developer delivers high-quality solutions with “Just-Enough” complexity and intentional simplicity. Responsibilities include applying secure coding and cybersecurity practices throughout the development lifecycle; creating clear, maintainable, and reusable code; designing solutions that scale reliably; building and supporting data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes; and developing and integrating RESTful and SOAP APIs. Hands-on experience using AI-driven development tools and practices to improve software design, implementation, testing, and delivery is required, together with a dedicated, collaborative, and continuous-learning mindset. The base salary range for this role is between $110,000 - $130,000 CAD.
## Duties and Responsibilities
As a senior member of the Development Team, contribute hands-on technical expertise, sound engineering judgment, and collaborative leadership to deliver secure, reliable, maintainable software that creates measurable value for customers.
Full-Stack Delivery: Design, develop, test, deploy, and support high-quality full-stack business applications using C#, .NET, Visual Studio, SQL Server, Blazor, and related Microsoft technologies, grounding implementation decisions in real customer workflows, constraints, and desired outcomes.
Customer-Centered Design: Translate the voice of the customer, business priorities, and evidence from real-world use into practical technical designs that solve meaningful problems in the simplest reliable way possible. Apply intentional simplicity and “Just-Enough” complexity while balancing usability, near-term delivery, scalability, security, and long-term maintainability.
Code Quality: Produce clear, reusable, well-structured, and well-documented code that follows established engineering standards; use automated testing, peer review, continuous integration, and representative customer scenarios to prevent defects and confirm that delivered behaviour meets real-world requirements.
Security and Privacy: Apply secure coding, privacy, and cybersecurity practices throughout the SDLC, including threat-aware design, dependency management, vulnerability remediation, appropriate access controls, and protection of customer and company data.
AI-Enabled SDLC: Use AI-assisted development tools and AI agents responsibly across the SDLC to improve analysis, design, implementation, testing, documentation, and delivery while keeping customer problems, workflows, and expected outcomes central to generated specifications and solutions. This includes, but is not limited to, Spec-Driven Development (SDD), reusable AI skill building, prompt engineering, code generation, automated code review, test generation, documentation support, ticket triage, and root-cause analysis, while validating outputs against real-world requirements and safeguarding confidential information and intellectual property.
Integrations and Data: Design, build, integrate, and support RESTful and SOAP APIs, external-system integrations, relational database solutions, and data pipelines or ETL/ELT workflows that reflect actual customer and partner use cases, with appropriate attention to simplicity, data quality, performance, resilience, observability, and backward compatibility.
Production Support: Own production issues through timely investigation, clear communication, remediation, and follow-up; work directly with customer-facing and operations teams when needed, use customer feedback and observed usage to understand real-world impact, identify root causes, and implement the simplest durable improvements that reduce recurrence and strengthen customer satisfaction.
Operational Excellence: Monitor and improve application health, performance, availability, and supportability by contributing effective logging, metrics, tracing, alerting, troubleshooting guidance, and operational documentation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with product, development, quality, operations, customer-facing teams, and other stakeholders to bring customer feedback and real-world usage insights into requirement refinement, solution design, work estimation, risk and dependency management, Agile planning, and informed product direction and priorities.
Technology Evaluation: Evaluate emerging technologies, software practices, and tools—including AI capabilities—through focused research and experimentation informed by customer needs and real operating conditions; recommend adoption only when evidence shows clear customer or engineering value without introducing unnecessary complexity, cost, or risk.
Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership through constructive design and code reviews, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and formal or informal training; help teammates build expertise in software engineering, secure delivery, AI-enabled development, and the company’s products and platforms.
Continuous Improvement: Continuously improve team standards, development workflows, documentation, and delivery practices by using customer feedback, support insights, and delivery outcomes as learning inputs, and remain accountable for the quality, reliability, usability, and customer impact of solutions from initial design through production support.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Customer-Centered Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to translate customer feedback, business priorities, operational constraints, and real-world usage into practical technical solutions that solve meaningful problems with intentional simplicity, appropriate quality controls, and the reliability required for production use.
Collaborative Delivery and Operations: Strong ability to work effectively with product, development, quality, operations, and customer-facing teams in an Agile environment; refine requirements, estimate work, identify risks and dependencies, partic
