Acoustics Test Engineer

Audio System Tuning team is looking for an Acoustics Test Engineer to ensure the correct marriage between audio software and acoustic hardware in Apple’s HW devices. The successful candidate will be responsible for all Acoustics Validation in various iOS, OSX and Wireless device products, including those affecting speech in Telephony and FaceTime applications.

Description

The candidate will be a member of Acoustic Hardware Team, and work day-to-day with the Audio System Tuning Engineer and Acoustic teams. This role will require attention to details and excellent HW / SW debugging skills. You will be interacting with different teams at Apple, and as such, you should have great communication and collaboration skills. You will validate the Voice Quality performance of all new HWs, objectively and subjectively by using advanced Acoustics test methods and state of the art test systems.

This role might require some international traveling as well. Apple delivers world class products and Audio should just makes these products even better with superb sound.

Minimum qualifications

BS, MS, PHD in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics, or related field with relevant experience. Experienced with standard audio measurement tools, e.g. HEAD Acoustics ACQUA, SoundCheck, Audio Precision, R&S CMW500, R&S UPV/UPL or similar. Understand basics of acoustic measurement instruments (HATS, artificial ear couplers, reference acoustic sources & microphones). Proficient in English and Mandarin.

Preferred qualifications

Experienced with Audio Test methods and radio technologies as 5G, VoLTE, EVS, AMR Understanding of acoustic fundamentals and knowledge of audio signal processing Experienced with audio signal analysis in MATLAB/Python or similar audio analysis SW tools Proficiency in machine learning technologies and their application to audio systems Have knowledge of Audio DSP applications (beam-forming, Noise Reduction, Echo Canceller etc), and exposure to VoIP technologies
