Reports to: Chief Accounting Officer (CAO)
Industry focus: Healthcare, Diagnostics, CRO and Technology
About the Role
We are seeking a highly analytical, execution-focused leader to lead global revenue accounting and the enterprise-wide order-to-cash (O2C) function in a high-volume, regulated healthcare, diagnostics and clinical research environment. This role is accountable for accurate revenue recognition, timely billing and cash conversion, effective internal controls, and scalable processes across domestic and international entities.
Reporting to the Chief Accounting Officer, this leader will build and develop the global revenue and O2C organization, partner with commercial and operational leadership, and drive systems transformation. The role combines deep technical accounting expertise with hands-on leadership of complex revenue and reimbursement operations.
Key Responsibilities
Global Revenue Accounting and Close
- Own global revenue accounting policies and the application of U.S. GAAP and ASC 606, with IFRS 15 oversight where applicable, across diagnostic testing, multi-year CRO arrangements, cross-border clinical trials and technology-enabled services.
- Lead complex contract reviews and document accounting conclusions covering performance obligations, variable consideration, bundled arrangements, volume-based pricing, contract modifications, and appropriate measures of progress for services recognized over time.
- Own the monthly and quarterly revenue close, including reconciliations, revenue and receivables variance analysis, unbilled receivables, contract assets, deferred revenue and contract liabilities. Shorten the close cycle while improving accuracy and control effectiveness.
- Establish governance over significant revenue estimates, including contractual allowances, implicit price concessions, reimbursement assumptions and denial trends. Maintain supportable models and monitor estimate-to-actual performance.
Controls Audit and Financial Reporting
- Maintain effective SOX controls over revenue and O2C, including documentation, control execution, interface completeness and accuracy, and remediation of identified deficiencies.
- Lead revenue-related support for quarterly reviews and annual audits, prepare and review technical accounting position papers, and partner with financial reporting on revenue disclosures and related SEC filing schedules.
Order to Cash and Commercial Partnership
- Serve as global process owner for O2C, with accountability for billing, invoicing, cash application, accounts receivable aging, collections, and reserves. Establish clear ownership and escalation paths across directly managed teams and cross functional stakeholders.
- Partner with payer relations, market access, laboratory operations and compliance teams to address reimbursement changes, denials and underpayments.
- Partner with Commercial, Legal, Operations, and FP&A on contract terms, billing milestones, pricing tiers and payment structures to improve billing timeliness, cash conversion and accurate revenue recognition.
- Establish operating metrics and improvement targets for overdue receivables, collection effectiveness, billing accuracy, invoice cycle time, cash application and revenue leakage. Track claim denial, appeal and recovery performance where applicable.
- Provide leadership with actionable analysis of test and service volumes, payer and customer mix, reimbursement trends and revenue estimates; partner with FP&A on revenue forecasting and cash conversion assumptions.
Systems Transformation and Data Governance
- Serve as the principal business owner for Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and related revenue and O2C platforms. Set business requirements and priorities, partnering with IT and implementation teams on solution design and configuration.
- Ensure complete and accurate automated feeds between Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), billing engines, commercial systems and financial subledgers. Establish interface reconciliations, exception handling and ownership of key contract, customer and pricing data.
- Drive automation and process standardization across entities and currencies, and integrate acquired businesses into global revenue policies, controls and systems where applicable.
Global Team Leadership
- Build, lead and develop a high-performing global revenue accounting and O2C team, including managers and distributed teams. Establish clear accountability, technical development, succession planning and consistent operating practices.
- Communicate complex accounting and operational matters clearly to executive leadership and auditors, exercising sound judgment and maintaining a high standard of integrity.
