Sustainability Program Manager
Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.
We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.
We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.
If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.
About This Role:
- As a Sustainability Program Manager, you will be an important member of Crusoe's sustainability team, transforming sustainability commitments into day-to-day operational reality. You will own the processes, training, and tracking that make our sustainability KPIs achievable and enforceable across a rapidly expanding portfolio of AI data centers and energy assets. You’ll work directly with cross-functional teams to translate targets into requirements, workflows, and accountability at the site and project level. This role suits someone with technical fluency in how manufacturing facilities and data centers are built and run, who is energized by designing scalable processes, driving adoption, and closing the gap between commitment and performance.
What You’ll Be Working On:
- Lead operational sustainability initiatives related to water, waste, and carbon, from scoping through delivery, building project plans, aligning stakeholders, tracking milestones, and surfacing risks early.
- Support sustainability implementation throughout the lifecycle of data center projects by helping to define, monitor, and improve data center construction and operational efficiency metrics, including embodied carbon, waste diversion, PUE, and WUE. Partner with internal teams and external partners to identify performance gaps and drive improvements.
- Design and implement the processes, SOPs, and checklists that embed sustainability requirements into manufacturing, construction, commissioning, and site operations, and train site teams, contractors, and partners to apply them consistently.
- Support green building certification strategies (e.g., LEED, Green Globes) across new builds, coordinating documentation, consultants, and design team inputs.
- Build and maintain dashboards, trackers, and automated workflows that give teams timely visibility into operational performance, using AI-enabled tools to reduce manual effort.
- Manage renewable energy tracking and energy performance data, working with Energy, Finance, and Operations teams to monitor portfolio status and surface risks and opportunities.
- Provide as-needed support across the broader sustainability team, flexing into emerging priorities, ad-hoc data requests, and new initiatives as the business evolves.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, environmental science, sustainability, data analytics, or a related field. Candidates from other backgrounds with demonstrated technical depth are encouraged to apply.
- Experience: 4-7 years of professional experience in sustainability operations, construction or energy management, supply chain or supplier management, or environmental consulting, ideally within the data center, cloud infrastructure, energy, or technology sectors. This should include hands-on management of operational programs, performance metrics, or compliance and enforcement processes.
- Data Center & Energy Knowledge: Strong understanding of data center construction and operations, including metrics (PUE, WUE, CUE) and power, cooling, and energy systems. Familiarity with renewable energy instruments and energy markets.
- Program Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage competing priorities, and influence stakeholders.
- Process Design: Proven ability to design, document, and roll out scalable processes, SOPs, and controls across many stakeholders and sites, and to drive adoption and adherence.
- Supply Chain & Vendor Engagement: Experience engaging suppliers, contractors, or vendors to set requirements, build capability, and hold them accountable to performance expectations, including through contract terms, scorecards, and corrective action.
- Technical & Analytical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong data skills, such as SQL, Python, or BI tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker). Experience building trackers, dashboards, and data quality controls.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex sustainability data into clear narratives for diverse stakeholders.
- Adaptability & Ownership: Self-starter who exercises sound judgment under ambiguity, proactively surfaces risks and opportunities, and takes full ownership of outcomes in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Bonus Points:
- Familiarity with green building certifications (LEED AP, Green Globes) or embodied carbon in construction, including whole building LCA tools (e.g., EC3, One Click LCA, Tally).
- Experience running supplier engagement or responsible sourcing programs, such as supplier scorecards, audits, or sustainability requirements in procurement.
- Comfort using AI tools (e.g., Claude, Gemini) to build trackers, automate workflows, or improve efficiency.
- Experience with construction project management, contractor compliance programs, or EHS/quality management systems.
Benefits:
- Industry competitive pay
- Restricted Stock Units in a fast growing, well-funded technology company
- Health insurance package options that include HDHP and PPO, vision, and dental for you and your dependents
- Employer contributions to HSA accounts
- Paid Parental Leave
