Software Engineer II

Vancouver, British Columbia, CanadaOnsitePosted Oct 22

Overview

Join the team that powers the world’s productivity! Excel is more than a spreadsheet. It is a global platform relied on by millions of people every day, from students and scientists to business leaders and innovators. As we embark on the next chapter of intelligent agentic experiences, you have the opportunity to help shape the future of how people work, analyze, and create with Excel.

The Excel Agent team’s mission is to make expert-level Excel capabilities available to everyone. People describe what they need in plain language, and the agent works in their workbook to help accomplish the task. It understands workbook context and user intent, plans and completes multi-step tasks using Excel capabilities, and checks its results before reporting back. We are building an agent people can trust with real work, one that brings in the right context, supports repeatable processes, and delivers results that remain editable and easy to verify.

As a Software Engineer II on the Excel Agent team, you will help design, build, and ship features that combine Excel’s core capabilities with agentic AI. You will own feature implementation, testing, and production support with minimal guidance while contributing to technical designs with support from more experienced engineers. You will work across client and service components and gain experience building reliable AI-powered experiences at scale.

This position is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

We are a welcoming and supportive team that values inclusive decision-making, feedback, and shared success. We use AI throughout our engineering processes while maintaining accountability for the quality and reliability of our work. We use prototypes and experiments to test ideas and use data and customer feedback to inform our decisions. We are looking for engineers who can work effectively in a dynamic environment, learn new technologies and systems, and collaborate with others to deliver reliable customer experiences.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.
