Security Developer & Researcher
We are seeking an experienced Security Developer & Researcher to innovate and deliver security technologies for enterprise database platforms. The position blends exploratory research with deep systems engineering: discovering weaknesses and protection needs, devising effective algorithms and mechanisms, and turning promising ideas into robust product capabilities. This is an individual-contributor role with end-to-end technical ownership, from investigation and experimentation through C/C++ implementation, validation, and optimization. The work involves close collaboration with engineering, research, and customer-facing teams.
Responsibilities
- Investigate challenging database and systems-security problems, including attack surfaces, exploitation paths, and gaps in existing controls.
- Formulate new security approaches, design algorithms and enforcement mechanisms, and assess their correctness, effectiveness, and practical trade-offs.
- Build prototypes, run experiments, and develop production-quality C/C++ software on Linux that integrates security capabilities into complex platforms.
- Own solutions across the full development cycle: technical design, implementation, testing, performance tuning, and production readiness.
- Engineer protections spanning access control, authentication, authorization, encryption, auditability, and sensitive-data handling.
- Apply threat modeling, adversarial testing, code review, and security analysis to improve resilience against real-world threats.
- Work with researchers, product managers, engineers, and customers to turn security needs and research results into deployable technology.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on software development experience.
- Extensive C/C++ programming experience on Linux, including low-level debugging and complex systems development.
- Demonstrated ability to conceive, evaluate, and implement algorithms or novel technical mechanisms for difficult engineering problems.
- Substantial experience in cybersecurity, security engineering, or the development of security-sensitive software.
- Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, system architecture, operating systems, and software performance.
- Experience taking technically ambitious concepts from investigation and proof of concept to reliable, maintainable production software.
- Sound understanding of software vulnerabilities, threat modeling, secure design, and security validation techniques.
- Excellent analytical judgment, independent problem-solving ability, and collaboration and communication skills.
- B.Sc. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (M.Sc. is an advantage).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL) and database engine internals.
- Knowledge of database protection mechanisms: authorization, encryption, auditing, isolation, and data-access controls.
- Experience in vulnerability research, fuzzing, reverse engineering, binary analysis, or adversarial security testing.
- Knowledge of Linux security primitives, process isolation, privilege enforcement, memory protection, or kernel interfaces.
- Familiarity with cryptography, key management, secure protocols, cloud security, or enterprise security standards.
- Interest in securing AI-enabled systems, autonomous agents, and emerging data-access patterns.
