Founding Engineer

ABOUT THE ROLE

Join an early-stage B2B SaaS team building AI tools for industrial ingredient manufacturers. As an early engineering hire, you will work closely with the founding team and take on product work across backend, frontend, infrastructure, and AI agents.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Build backend systems that ingest and process real-world documents from customer systems and inboxes.

• Develop AI agents that complete complex compliance and food safety documents.

• Own features end to end across the stack, from backend services to user interfaces.

• Ship quickly, learn from user feedback, and adapt the product to customer needs.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

• Meaningful engineering experience beyond intern-level work, demonstrated through product ownership, scope, and impact; the role is open to a range of experience levels.

• Early-stage startup or founding engineering experience, with evidence of taking products or major features from concept to production.

• Strong full-stack skills, including backend development, frontend implementation, and relational data modeling with Postgres or an equivalent database.

• Experience shipping software used by real people and explaining engineering tradeoffs and lessons learned.

• Production experience with AI or LLM products, agents, retrieval, search, or automation is valuable.

• Relevant technologies include Kotlin and Spring Boot, React and Next.js, Postgres, GCP, and commercial LLM providers. Experience with Kotlin is not required if you can learn it.

• Document processing, unstructured data extraction, or experience with manufacturing, supply chain, or other traditional industries is a plus.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base salary is $160,000 to $200,000 annually, plus 0.5% to 2% equity. Visa sponsorship is not available.

LOCATION

On-site in San Francisco, California. Candidates should be based in the Bay Area or willing to relocate.
